The super tall aspect ratio is ridiculous

Sony Xperia 10 II cost in my country 350EUR. Around that price point right now (380EUR), you can get Poco F2 pro (and we're talking SD865 here). At around 350EUR you can get a Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G, a Realme X50 5G or a Pixel 3a. Even cheaper now, is the Poco X3 (230EUR), which is almost the same price as the Sony Xperia L4 (200EUR), lol. Is like David and Goliath here (Poco X3 with Sony L4).
I am not a fan of Chinese phones in the long run (and their software is usually bad), but when it comes to price/features, I think they are unbeatable.

The design is pretty nice, but for me, it's still too big. 158mm just doesn't qualify as compact, although I like the width. Anything below 21:9 aspect ratio would shrink it even more and bring the phone to a much smaller overall footprint, lets say 148mm (More in the realms of the Pixel 4).
This plus more Android updates would result in me instantly buying it.
Boggy-Stefy, 20 Sep 2020Sony it seems to tackle every problem, except one, high prices on their phones, lol. Yes, of... moreBut they have mid-range cheaper phones.??? And the flagship getting so good in camera, PlayStation and as a monitor for Sony mirrorless shooters, Sony will rise eventually to the iPhone and Samsung standards and beyond
My tastes are way too exotic for this phone being "exactly what I ask for" so I didn't vote, but I gotta admit it check many of the important cases.
I would say it lack on thickness which would have allowed a bigger battery capacity (4Ah is a little short nowadays) a better handling and no camera hump.
Other than the quite high price tag (though cheap Chineses phones spoiled us compared to superior quality standard of brands like LG or Sony), maybe :
*A dedicated Portrait (if the Telephoto isn't already optimized for that).
*Dedicated SD slot (as SD slot isn't that rare, it is "dual Sim + independent micro SD slot" which is rarer).
*Radio through Jack.
*Dual band sat nav (which is quite important nowadays given the hugely increased precision it offer).
*Wireless charging (that Kimovil indicate as present).
Those are the only things I see missing to make a really complete classic smartphone.
The 5 mk2 is 95% from perfect , I never give 100%. It is not a compact like the z3, z5, x, and xz2 all compacts. I use two xz2's compacts, I would like to see every two to three years new compacts from Sony at 65mm maximum width, I think the z5 compact and the X were very nice to hold, the current xz2 is too rounded, fat and heavy not as great to hold in one hand. I would love to see the the 5 mk2 getting to a compact size 65mm wide flatter at the back bigger battery length no a problem whatever will it be, oled screen, high speed connect and as close as possible on cameras
Sony it seems to tackle every problem, except one, high prices on their phones, lol.
Yes, of course, it is not your typical Chinese cheap phone, but still, Sony never have been established as a leader in smartphone industry. And they should act accordingly.
Look at Google, they tried the flagship area, very few people bought their phones and now they went to a more safer approach, mid-range devices and prices. Sony, should make the same approach, instead of trying to compete with iphone or Samsung in those flagship territory.
That is why year after year, their sales are so low. Because, only the Sony fans buy their phones, or one two "lost souls" who want to try a Sony phone.
Thus being said, Sony phones are very nice phones all around. Clearly better than Chinese ones. But, too expensive. And sadly for Sony, price is the first and most important thing the average customer looks for when buying a new phone.

It all ends up in higher flagship prices going YoY.
Yes!
Long time overdue, finally Sony did it!
(From X Performance to XZ3 era, i would say nay)

Maybe some other aspect would be more agreeable with a real Xperia Compact model.
Hi, will it be 5G in Europe? Because in the US it is said that it is "5G" but will not be ale to connect to 5G networks?
Well, it could be smaller, yes. But mostly, it could cost less than nearly twice as much as I've ever paid for a de facto flagship phone.
Phone price levels got out of hand in the last year or two...

You can't do these things properly if the phone is too compact. Then there's the 21:9 display ratio.

135 H as max to be compact, make screen and battery smaller, same way as with Z1 and Z1C, still using z1c with android 10 xP
A perfect but a bit pricey phone.
Seems there will be some giveaways with preorders too, so its a no brainer.
I ll preorder, get the giveaways and sell those... it ll cost me 600-700 € in the end....
No better offer at that end price for such a feature encompassing new flag phone.
Anonymous, 20 Sep 2020Why would you need 120fps for 4K video xD. Even 60fps feels unnatural to me.Well it lets you slow the video down to achieve 4-5x slow-mo and still have 24/30fps 4K. I'm sure the problem will be the bitrate is too low, and as always with smartphone slow-mo; the sensor size is too small to support such short exposures per frame, ending in poor results outside of very sunny weather.
Nope, this thing is too big still. If they could have gotten it back down the the Compact series size, I would have been all over this.
too bad it won't be available here in the philippines :(
