Manufacturers are expecting the £ to drop to €1-€1.04 on the 1st of Jan, that is why the price is the same as Euros. (In fact it is a few percent cheaper to start with as MwSt is currently 16%, VAT is 20%.)

WOW! $650 for the Pixel 5 seems a little lite for everything it needs to be. Needs 256 gb storage, wireless charging, waterproof, superior display. In other words it needs to be an alternative to iphone 12 in terms of features and camera quality. I was thinking more like $749 or at least $699! But then again the Pixel 4a came in $50 less than what I anticipated so more power to Google if they can pull it off.

If the POCO X3 can be... morePixel is not designed in China , not full of chinese pieces nor manufactured in India.
That already makes it more expensive than pocophone.

Do not compare a camera that has 24mm2 with ones with 72mm2.
2018 p20 pro can do better than the iphone 11 pro fpr example.

Google don't care how much they will sold, look at this design, specs and futures and the high price for 2020 its nothing more than a jock.
Google made this for fun nothing more and maybe making fun of Samsung.
We still have big problems, iphone releases a new software and all the phones around the world get it second day after lunch, but Google Android....

Potemkin, 22 Sep 2020Yes, it will work.As a person who does not have google store in our country, there is usually limitation that google store in EU is sending only to address in the same country.
That probably will force you to use some smart forwarding mail box or command it on amazon when it will eventually get widely available.

Please compare the 4a with similar version of POXO X3.
The POCO X3 with 128 MB storage costs 339$ on amazon, that is a difference vs 229$ on 64MB.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2020The vanilla 4a costs $349, how do you expect the 5G version to only cost $300? Did you read where I said the POCO X3 (4G, 120Hz) can be bought for $199, and priced the Pixel 4a (5G, 60Hz) at $300 to compensate for the 5G.

TBH I'm surprised by the prices, I was expecting €700 for 5 and €500-600 for 4a 5G

Actually not so expensive, compared to Korean and Japanese brands.
Chinese vendors offer much bigger value for the money, but I believe this year Google will sell a lot of phones, since the regular screen size of the other phones is more than 6.5 inches. It is becoming enormous to use such a device. I used to be a big fan of Xiaomi, but I cannot tolerate this madness anymore. So probably there are other people like me who will pay the price for comfort.
