So eventually they didn't change the name to Google TV.
Andreidinutu, 23 Sep 2020Do you really think tv's should have more than quad core cpu's?

RTX GPU definitely not happening :DDDD Have you ever searched for TV SoCs? They use Mali-400 or T800 series or the newer ones G31MP1 xDDDD
Even the Shield wich is meant for gaming uses Maxwell arch for the GPU and that X1 chips from 2016 is still better than mainstream TV SoCs in 2025 so Nvidia has no competition to force them to upgrade only slower sales which will take a while with the new Shield Pro

Maybe 3000 dollar tagged tv's should have an octa core, but seriously, what you do with your tv? Play some gta 5 with the remote?
I wonder why we didn't get some rtx gpu's in it...
Quad core is enough

Hope OEMs learnt their lesson about using Android OS. There's big money to be made in having your own OS. Development tools and talent are easily available nowadays. Market is still open for consumer and developer acceptance. Another important point to not
forget is the privacy infringement nightmare Google and Apple (duopoly OS) placed mobile phones worldwide thru the past decade.

Everyone has a product they never use (but still keep for no good reason)
You also have one (unless you're a chronic pretender)

Android 11 also brings ads that no user has ever asked for.

Shield TV is much better vs the Apple stuff for sure, so I really can't imagine which Android box you have 💥
Lots of arguments pervade about apple v android but I think that categorically, and I really don't see any way to deny it, apple TV definitely is a much better and safer alternative to android tv. I have an Android TV box and I don't use it any. It's really only good for pirated content apks and repositories through the likes of tea tv and Kodi and they are all shot now really.
Too bad OEM implementation is poor. And, since TVs are being kept for a lot longer than phones, they should support many years of updates, but that doesn’t really happen, from what I’ve seen.
Hardware is also weak, with 1-2 GB of RAM and quad core CPUs still common in Android TV devices.
