Excalibur, 24 Sep 2020Dual symmetrical front firing speakers if i may add. Of course 😄
Excalibur, 24 Sep 2020Except apple. If they cant let go of the chin, why not just retain the top bezel just like son... moreTop bezel it's fine, but making the side display frame the same thickness its just to much imo.
It looks like a phone in a case that is in another case😄
Berserker89, 23 Sep 2020It is not a design dessigion. There needs to be enough space for the display flex cable. That&... moreExcept apple. If they cant let go of the chin, why not just retain the top bezel just like sony phones.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Kids don't like any bezels right now, so high tech comes to the rescue, worst thing of it... moreLike now you know is some app is using the front camera right.
Un camera is far better for peopole like you.
As soon as some app triggers the camera in the background the display portion will turn off obviously.
You've lost in your own words a little.
Demongornot, 23 Sep 2020Arg, here we go again with this horrible tech.
Just improve the pop up or ditch the front cam... moreAnd here we go again with your same tinfoil comments crying for a no selfie camera phone.
I wish you to have more friends like you🤳😂
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Why? It's so much better under the display where it is out of the way.Short answer.
2) Bad picture quality.
4) In the way of interesting and much better innovations.
Pop up camera are already "under the display" if you think about it, they are totally out of the way, but they also have none of the 3 (there are more, but I simplify things here) big downsides of underdisplay camera.
Here is one of the reason why dedicated front camera need to disappear in order to get way better things and that underdisplay camera get in the way of achieving :
Not only the main camera have way superior quality over the front camera, but also, I strongly believe that the ultimate evolution of the pop up camera is a mix between the Asus Zenfone 6/7/7 Pro, Galaxy A80 concept and Oppo Find X implementation.
Basically you only have main camera on the back, and the pop up serving as a physical shutter to them when not in use (like the Find X, great for privacy) and have 3 positions :
*Masked, where the camera are simply hidden and protected.
*Back/Half lifted, making the main/back camera unmasked and therefor able to see normally.
*Main/Fully lifted, where internal periscope like structure would make them see frontward, allowing to use the superior main camera sensor for taking pictures and the additional periscope that allow to see in front would have lenses optimizing them for closer distances that are typical of selfies.
Not only it would allow for much better pictures, allowing privacy and since there aren't any physical camera sensor inside the pop up, making it simple and fast, but also saving number of sensors and not just by not having front one(s) :
It can also be combined with a clever periscope-like system where the same sensor using the 90° reflectors as physical shutters, can be feed from multiple lenses configurations.
Meaning with a single big and high quality sensor (think IMX689), you can have all regular/wide, ultra-wide, telephoto, macro and portrait mode from this amazing sensor without the extra cost of having multiple sensors, saving a lot of money and greatly improving the quality in all of those which can all have OIS thanks to that if it is in/pre-sensor.
Now THAT would be way more interesting than underdisplay camera, and thanks to the saved cost, a double depth sensor camera using a mix of ToF and structured light together (in technical details, the more precise structured light pattern would get help from the ToF for extra precision, dots miss-identification fix and simpler algorithm by knowing which one is probably the most likely to be which on the two camera by also using stereo 3D) which would create an incredibly precise depth map which will serve for computational photography enhancement, augmented/mixed reality and 3D facial recognition, all that while still costing less that just having a single underdisplay camera + multi camera setup.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Where else will they put them? Inside the display? That thin grill isn't the entire speak... morespekers are on the top and bottom of the phone edge. Sound dont need to be pointing at your face as they can come out of the edge of the phone on top and bottom. Like there is the speakers already. It just needs holes trough where it is coming out. Dont need to have bezel on the screen for it that makes no sense. Like the bezel is a speaker membrane
Excalibur, 23 Sep 2020Please sir, remove the chin or else put a forehead. Just make the top and bottom bezels symmet... moreKids don't like any bezels right now, so high tech comes to the rescue, worst thing of it all is that if the UD camera tech reaches perfection, you will never guess what is watching you.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Saw the Youtube review on that ZTE Axon and the under display selfie camera is really bad and ... moreThis is because the ZTE Axon 20 5G is more a beta test (that will never get a "final release") than a regular finalized phone, the price is super low, even without the underdisplay tech it have a too low price to be legit, it is obvious they sell it at loss, there are few reasons for that :
*The tech isn't mature and actually isn't ready for mass production or public release but they still released it anyway.
*The tech isn't even having a properly implemented algorithm yet and peoples will be used as a test bench, you can be sure to see a lot of updates in short succession, some may even bring worse image quality or huge bugs as a result.
*It serve to help mature the production process, I wouldn't even be surprised if there are multiple display variants so they can test which one are the best.
*It is a huge social exposition move, and as expected, it many news articles did talk about it.
That being said, this tech have inherently negative picture quality whatever you do, you can compensate it by a lot using many AI, pixel arrangements and other tweaks, but there will never be a picture as good as one taken by a regular camera.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Saw the Youtube review on that ZTE Axon and the under display selfie camera is really bad and ... moreThe ZTE is using a Visinox OLED screen the Realme and Xiaomi are using a different GEn 3 screen and is much much better. Can not see it at all on darker colors and in lighter color looks like very faint image retention.
Saw the Youtube review on that ZTE Axon and the under display selfie camera is really bad and pixelated. Still need time for this tech I guess. :/
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Why does screen need to have bezels for stereo speakers ?Where else will they put them? Inside the display? That thin grill isn't the entire speaker, forehead.
FlyingEzekiel, 23 Sep 2020Is this so effin hard? Why noone did this recently is mindboggling. Why has nobody done this already? Because our good benevolent friends at Apple, in the true spirit of American Capitalist Innovation(TM), have patented it and will sue the living daylights out of anyone who copies their basic-a$$ "solution" to it.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2020Why does screen need to have bezels for stereo speakers ?Omg, what a question.
You already know the answer.
FlyingEzekiel, 23 Sep 2020Is this so effin hard? Why noone did this recently is mindboggling. It is not a design dessigion. There needs to be enough space for the display flex cable. That's why no brand can get rid of the chin.
Arg, here we go again with this horrible tech.
Just improve the pop up or ditch the front camera entirely already !
