Sony partially implemented this feature on Xperia 1 II and 5 II.
Asus did it much better on their ROG 3 and 7, but Sony certainly did a step in the right direction.
Qi affect the battery health in a noticible way, but you can't do that on Xperia 5 II anyway.
So one think is to care for battery, other is nonsense as fast charging is bad (especially for those who own phones that can't do that :)

For $1000, 1 year of ba... moreAs for me, the way I use, I got to charge everyday, so it will degrade no matter how you charge... After an year, I don't really care if it drops 30%, as new phones come too often, in brand half year to 1, if you consider switching, more often.

Take away some of the gimmick, a slight bigger battery with much lower price (Galaxy S20 FE as nearest competition) then, we'll talk.
Sony name on mobile phone should no longer worth that much any more.

But yeah. What you said goes double for me, Sony should bring back a real compact phone that one could carry easily, in a shirt pocket for instance. Even if it was was just a XZ1 compact with a better camera and better gps hardware with a 865 SoC inside. Call it a XZ1 compact II or use the Z3 styling and call it a Z3 compact II. Whatever, after all that's basically what Apple did with the SE and that seems to be working well for them.
