I think it's important understand not everyone going agree with a ban if a ban happens
Although I do think platform like tiktok do make security problems so it's something keep in mind out right ban of a platform I think is wrong and shouldn't be a thing
Tiktok isn't really being given a way into westen market and there is always going be people out there who want try choice tiktok promote there platform over YouTube
Plus bonus tiktok actually pay you money for using there app from money apps
Tencent games also needs a way into the western market
What is needed is healthy competition not a who can ban more war or hacking war

If they ban or block all other countries but their own native app. Then that would be no freedom of speech! I don't use video sharing app, so i don't know alternative. But for messaging app, I use Line (Japanese), Whatapp (American), Discord (American), Viber (Japanese), KabaoTalk (Korean). I have plenty of choices. I don't understand the Amercian Chinese complaining if US ban WeChat they can't contact family/friend. Is it US fault, China only allow their native to use WeChat only?

If a country has full access to the server, and the server is physical based in that country. A government can indirect take via server access, all user data, source code and encryption key. Or direct take over server centre in the name of "security"! Considering they can run over a man with a tank. Their reasons and methods are too scary for me. I mean, the clean 5G policy may seem like a smokescreen, but there is reason to be sacred.
USA ban every thing just like tik tok,we chat ,that mean USA people totally not freedom they have no right to talk ,share freely cause USA government controlling every thing...….ONE DAY USA GOVERNMENT CONTROLLING PEOPLE JUST LIKE RULES

At most, it only wanted Google to follow their censorship laws. As for data collection, every company has some form of compliance in sharing with the government of the country they are operating in, USA included. It's not called giving away the data for free.

One side is forcing them sell the business to own the property or get out. The other side is asking for free access to their property or get out. So between Sell/Ban or Give/Leave. I believe the option to sell is more reasonable. If the country involved were different. Is Sell/Ban or Give/Leave worst?

While Google might have left because of China's laws about data etc, they had a choice whether to stay in China or not.
USA did not give Tiktok a choice. It's either selling the whole company's operations there to an American one, or get banned immediately.

You can express your opinions on other platforms too (YouTube, Instagram, Reddit). Tiktok is just a platform for people to watch and share videos. People in China don't have real freedom of speech unlike USA, due to the censorship laws there and they cannot be too overly critical of the government there too.
Meteorite, 26 Sep 2020The laws that you mention that Google refused to follow is a lie. Google did operate in PRC fo... moreMy comment still stated Google chose to leave China willingly, no matter what the reasons are. It's not like China outright asked Google to sell their company to a Chinese one or get banned from operating there, which is what USA is doing now.
King of the park, 27 Sep 2020Honestly it's not a good idea to ban tiktok,I suggest that us should have put some polici... moreso your freedom of speech can't without tiktok??? do you know chinese don't have real freedom of speech on tiktok?
War and violence everywhere, but the governments fight for tiktok.

Honestly it's not a good idea to ban tiktok,I suggest that us should have put some policies in place rather than ban, why can't we enjoy our freedom of speech for Goodness sake. I'm really tired of some decisions made by us government,
.alpha, 26 Sep 2020It's reported in 2016 that Google has been working on a separate search engine for China ... moreWow..did you even read the article that the guy linked, to whom you have replied ?
It clearly mentions Google working on Dragonfly and it also mentions the *shocking* reason why Google went to PRC in the first place & are still pursuing the same reason although on a weaker scale because, you know, the great ¢·¢·P
.alpha, 26 Sep 2020Nortel is just red herring. No one have proof but because Huawei became #1 and isn't whit... morePatent... Both protect and stop innovation. To have a new idea (or same) without passing cross of some existing patent is much harder than it seems. And just because a a piece of code is free source, it does not mean free of license agreement. With a country that has being block from trading to leaping forward within 10 years, catching up to nearly 50+ years worth of experience, yes, they are that good. Just like one of the security firms find a hidden 'virus' that actually does nothing but scan for AutoCAD files and send to an IP address in China, but of course, China deny of any involvement and doing. Since nothing further can be done, it being labeled 'didn't happen', one of these event.
And don't tie one ethnic race to one country man. That just moral high jacking, or typical Chinese propaganda tactic. Not saying Huawei didn't innovate anything, but to say they did everything, which by the way, if you ever dealt with them on the enterprise space, their marketing, sales training all intend to say directly or indirectly they're that good. Even their HCI solution, for a very long time, trying to hide the fact they are using OpenStack as base. And oh, custom ARM silicon SoC isn't self made processor.
Ahh, the insult. A non free trade and speech country is using the very same ideology and its laws on free trade, speech to avoid its own interest down the drain. There is a line need to be drawn. I'm all in for human, freedom, speech, etc right. But, talking about all these right with the very same group collective that don't care or don't get the concept, is simply, absurd.
Swordman, 26 Sep 2020China set up laws for Google to follow (such as censorship), and Google DECLINED to follow it ... moreIsn't the same? China would only allow Google to stay, if they handed over open access to all data base, user info, and source code. And US is only allowing TikTok to stay if it sold to a US company, and the database, user info and source code is within US hands. The only difference I see, is US is willing to pay for the data. While China just want to steal it.
A. Nguyen, 25 Sep 2020If only Google, Twitter, Fb, Wikipedia—& how can one forget 'the case of Nortel'... moreNortel is just red herring. No one have proof but because Huawei became #1 and isn't white some people just points to Huawei. It doesn't matter to those people Huawei spend more on R&D than the rest combined, nope, must be stealing because we call know Asian aren't innovative.

Swordman, 26 Sep 2020China set up laws for Google to follow (such as censorship), and Google DECLINED to follow it ... moreThe laws that you mention that Google refused to follow is a lie. Google did operate in PRC for atleast 4 years from 2006 to 2010. At the end of 2010, they faced a major cyber attack from 'within' China that stole a lot of their patented technology & also the Censorship laws kept getting worse day by day. They were even pressured to form a partnership with a local PRC company that would have essentially meant giving away all their secret technology. So they rather decided to leave China as it is no use going to the courts in China, the courts always take the side of PRC companies & the government. You can read about all this in detail here https://www.technologyreview.com/2018/12/19/138307/how-google-took-on-china-and-lost/
