Removing the zoom lens is the biggest loss here
If the 5 had the wide, ultrawide and at least a 3x zoom lens it would be a decent buy.
Personally I'd rather there was a 4G version available too, even if it had to have last year's SD855, every phone I've tried with 5G has been a portable radiator with random heating.
abigfanoftechs, 27 Sep 2020It's amazes how shit Google at hardware. Even small Chinse sub-brand can do better than a... moreQuite true. It's simply beyond anyones commonsense. Even fly by chinese firms have better sense of design and consumer requirements. Its also ridiculous to think that they will release a higher end with 6" screen size and a lower end with 6.2" , astonishing, truly astonishing when the standard size hovers somewhere between 6.2'' - 6.7''. Inspite of repeated failings, Googles design team fail to realise what is essential.
Imagine charging $200 more like apple charging $1000+ on iphone 11 pro but their BoM (bill of materials) was under $300 !
Profits.
Google wants in, the pie is still warm.

Google phones didn't even make top 10 in the US - their home market.
Those Google engineers/employees do NOT have professional pride.
If convert price is too high in India. Can't buy

either that or they failed miserably.

Poor 720p 60hz display with average Battery life is coming for you.
Well, here is a $700 SD765 phone. Freaking thing would be $1100-1200 if Google used SD865 and put in more flagship parts

Most users prefer those ''heavy useless'' skins over stock android. Just ask Nokia or Motorola how their business is doing with using stock android.
VectorR, 26 Sep 2020Too little differences from Pixel 4a to cost $200 more. Not worth it!The price of 699.00 is too much for the 765processer. It's still a mid-range SOC? Identical price with the Samsung S20 fan edition. Much better specs, the 865processer, 120hz display, bigger 🔋 at 4500mamp's. If Google wants to compete 599.00 would have been much better!
Anonymous, 25 Sep 2020Apparantly Iphone 12's BOM is higher than ever, reports are saying it could be $750.I thought that it was confirmed that the iPhone 12 will be $650 with 5G.
Multiple sources(including Jon Prosser) confirm that the iPhone 12 5G starts at $650. On the other hand, only 1 leakster said it started at $750.
OG Pixel cost 700 bux and it came with (SD821) the most recent flashship CPU. Now, we get middle class CPU for the same price. So that's about 30% inflation in just 4 years... Damn!
How much more would it have cost to put a Snapdragon 865+ chipset in the Pixel 5? Back in the day, Google managed to always put the flagship chipset in the Nexus phones, but still keep the price below flagship prices. I just don't get it. $700, but a chipset that's subpar.
I mean, consider that the OnePlus Nord, with the same 765G chipset that comes in the Pixel 5, costs only $400. I just don't get what Google thinks people are paying for.
Anonymous, 25 Sep 2020Got a serious question here,
Why do people care if phone doesn't come with a headphone... moreBecause I still use headphones a lot?
The sound quality is bad and bluetooth constantly being turned on drains the battery even more.
Also wireless headphones die by the time. Regular headphones get destroyed too but for the price of the decent wireless headphones you can get amazing sounding wired ones.
Also with dongle you lose the sound quality as well...you can google about it and see the results.
Mr P, 25 Sep 2020Is google seriously trolling with us consumers?Actually yes, the money google makes from pixel phones is literally cents compared their monstrous earnings from software buisness, pixel phones are just made to show people what a clean android looks like compared to super heavy useless customised os skins like funtouch os , oneUI , colourOS, and to make other android manufacturers to use OS skin like that of OxygenOS used in OnePlus
Anonymous, 25 Sep 2020Got a serious question here,
Why do people care if phone doesn't come with a headphone... moreSound quality and convenience.
The headphone jack requires relatively little space within the phone.
Greed is the only reason mfrs remove it.
Anonymous, 25 Sep 2020Got a serious question here, Why do people care if phone doesn't come with a headphone... moreDouble the usage, double the wear and tear, shorter life span
Anonymous, 25 Sep 2020Got a serious question here, Why do people care if phone doesn't come with a headphone... moreThe dongle will break the flimsy usb c port.
