S20ultra 8K vs sony's full frame 4K (s20u was better) also 8K comparison to RED and amount of detail was about the same. Not to forget 8K on S20, S20+ is better.
So test results here on gsma and on youtube show the same thing 8K looks like 8K.
Of course not talking about recording in low light or about colors (phone sensor vs FF).
may this help you..

Wasted space and money, just ditch the front camera already.NO!
Better to have a bigger forehead and use the main camera sensor also for the selfie camera, with that you now have more space for better front-facing speakers and proper 3DToF/LiDAR sensors.

Al, 29 Sep 2020Get ready for Xperia 1 III Z Performancedont you give them ideas xD; as if the xperia XZ2 premium wasnt already a mouthful.
I do quite like the current naming system; just bumping the "mark" number every time. hope they dont abandon it after 2-3 iterations like they have done with every single one of their previous series.

It is joke with bitrate of 80mb

Lack of high bitrate channel and proper hardware make 8K video recording on smartphones irrelevant.

vrvly, 29 Sep 20208K is real, its also not 4K resolution. Some just wont agree. The thing is due to hardware and bitrate limitations smartphone 8K is no better than 4K.
Even only a few professional cameras have 8K recording. And amount of 8K content is almost non existent for now.
I think for at least 1-2 years 8K video recording is unnecessary, especially on smartphones.
After few years, Sony Xperia 1 XXVIII.
Anonymous, 29 Sep 2020But when they will start naming the phone without confusing us?ok, i cannot make a drawing for you but, at least i can try to spell it for you: the number (1, 5, 8, 10) indicates the level of quality / sophistication (1 the best, 10 not the best) and the additional roman number (I, II, ...) the generation. think you got it?
or should i assume that for you the 10, 20, 30, 40 with pro, +, extra, ultra, extra + , ultra + , extra ultra +, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, etc extensions system is less confusing...
