Mr. Anonymous, 30 Sep 2020Looks like you didn't get my point and didn't read the article carefully. I'm ... moreDoes not help when Google keeps demanding apps ONLY to work with their payment system, worse yet is they have done nothing to stop app makers from doing "oh no GMS? well to bad the game cannot boot LMAO" behavior of any companies!
So actually for third-party stores prices there will be two commissions - commission of store and 30% commission for Google payment system.
Let's imagine your app or service costs 10$ in side store,
then Google gets 30% of deal (3$) - that's 7$ left
then side store get's 30% of total price (they are not worse than google!) - 4$ you own
6$ get corporations.
Nice!
And then google doesn't allow you get android auto, google pay on wearables, youtube music on google home, etc. if you are not living in US\UK

I'm ... moreI always get a kick out of comments like this. A few big companies that has the money can start going down that path but how successful can they be in 5 or 10 years? Having stores outside of the Playstore or the AppStore will never be mainstream and one needs that kind of scale to even make it worthwhile to support all that will be required. While some niche groups will take the plunge, the average users (where the real money is) will not. Epic said as much in their lawsuit with Google.
Multiple store will introduce complexity for the average users to a problem that don't exist for them. This is a developer/business problem, not an end user problem. As far as the end users are concerned, Apps have never been cheaper, developers may despise the current arrangement, most end users actually likes the current arrangement.
Adul Al Salami kebab, 30 Sep 2020WRONG! Most apps demand GMS to even work, and if they MOST have Google payments then have GMS ... moreLooks like you didn't get my point and didn't read the article carefully.
I'm talking about sideloading apps like fortnite, that come from the original manufacturer. Also app stores, like F-droid, amazon, etc.
KebabSLO, 30 Sep 2020Exactly. Huawei has big plans ready and it will get only easier to realize them with this. G... moreActually wrong, this means Huawei needs apps that is HMS compatible since GMS and Play services is required for many apps currently while testing the P40 Lite I came to the conclusion that for games it is simply un-usable due to GMS requirement many will even refuse to start! This bullshit will make it harder for app developers to update their current apps for HMS without making a separate app for other stores... :I
Mr. Anonymous, 30 Sep 2020I'm fine with this, as long as it's still possible to sideload other apps or use oth... moreWRONG! Most apps demand GMS to even work, and if they MOST have Google payments then have GMS requirement built in... Worse yet some apps have even added detection system and refuses to load if there is no GMS present!!! :I
I'm fine with this, as long as it's still possible to sideload other apps or use other app stores.
