Anonymous, 01 Oct 2020Keeping 4K videos inside phone that cant play beyond 1080p is very dumb.
Better send to computer. You also have a point, but how about those who do not have a PC, all what their have is their phone and they take many Full HD videos? :D
By the way this is not me, I am typing from a PC, but surely there are people who do not have other gadgets.
ASUS ROG Phone 3, 01 Oct 2020On Paper what you say about Android ecosystem may be true, in reality all ORMs more or less si... moreSure, but you're essentially running ecosystem equivalent to Windows environment. You just have a clusterf**k of tons of SoC makers (HiSilicon, Qualcomm, Samsung, Mediatek etc) each having tons of models covering many variations of Android versions across months and years. Apple has pretty much none of those issues. They have a range of usually 4 phones running single chipset for that year, with OS custom tailored for those chipsets specifically. No matter how good they integrate all, there is no way Android will ever have such tight integration.

Especially for phones like iPhone XR, that "only" has "720p" display that's "only" LCD. But when you look closer, the so called "720p" display actually has density of 326ppi which makes it indistinguishable from a 550ppi display at distance of 10 inches (25cm) which is around the distance at which you hold the phone in most cases. And the IPS LCD itself has one of best color reproductions around, often challenging even OLED displays and only falling short at raw blacks for obvious reasons. I've had SuperAMOLED displays, I've had IPS ones and I'm again on IPS with iPhone XR and I don't have the slightest issue with it. It's a great display that serves me well.

And if it "doesn't need" it then you shouldn't have to pay for it.

AnonD-804996, 01 Oct 2020iOS doesn't need as much RAM because of how closely OS is integrated with hardware. Imagi... moreOn Paper what you say about Android ecosystem may be true, in reality all ORMs more or less similar or even identical components made for Android. Camera, SoC, display, memory, storage etc...except for the security related components like fingerprint sensors almost all are using same components(even iPhones in some cases). They all use the same reference architectures and use same APIs but slightly blend it to look slightly different. Only issue with Android is their bloat wares and tracking systems. Android is true multitasking hence it demands more memory unlike iOS which fakes MT(iPad OS may be distant but I have never used that os yet) with freezing the action.
Why would anyone buy a 64gb phone in 2020?
I think the least amount of internal storage should be 128gb for the cheapest low end phones and expensive flagships should start at 512gb, especially given that all in the mainstream, except for Samsung do not support MicroSD cards.

But every time i see their specs, If people are paying that much, they should get the hardware that's appropriate for the price ? (Except the AP) If Apple is 'brave' enough, they can put more RAM, better display, shrink the notch and beat all the Androids in the price range ? They are just on the edge of 'acceptable' in my opinion.

Imagine comparing consoles with PC's. On paper, consoles are always inferior, yet they run games just as fast in most cases. It' sbecause of this tight integration. Also every single iPhone is the same and runs OS made by makers of the phone. Where Android is made by Google, adapted by vendor using drivers made by chipset maker that's not affiliated by Google or the vendor. And they make the stuff somehow work. There is just no way it'll ever be as fast and smooth as iOS.
So the top of the line model will come with
an outdated 60hz display
wide notch
a tiny battery
No sd card
No headphone jack
128 gb of base storage
Without any freebies
With a price tag of $1300 and the isheeps or other fool people will try to justify it because it will be a so called premium smartphone 😂😂😂

One thing i hate about Apple is that they charge insane amounts for storage upgrade. Making 64gb as base and skipping 128gb and only offering 256gb for $200+ is so bad. Another year of disappointment. And to people saying 64gb is enough, while 128gb is the industry standard, you are paying more to get less in iphones.
najdier, 01 Oct 2020I don't understand Apple. No premium phone comes with 64 GB in 2020. Some Android phones ... moreReason for this is because iPhone is the only device I'm aware of that uses superior NVMe interface for storage (same as used in PC's for those stupid fast M.2 NVMe SSD drives). Drawback of that whole storage gets more expensive. It's way faster than any UFS afaik, but price is the drawback. They need to keep costs down, otherwise the base model would cost 1000€ and no one wants that. Partially iCloud is probably also involved. Personally, I don't care. I have 64GB iPhone paired with 2TB cloud storage (that's not iCloud). Never have that much data on device itself to need more. But I guess some do.

I don't understand Apple. No premium phone comes with 64 GB in 2020. Some Android phones costing less than half the price of a 64 GB iPhone, like TCL, come with 256 GB. Is the intention to pressure buyers into paying for iCloud storage?
If it by some miracle have SD card then fine, or some sort of high amount of cloud storage, but if not, then that's bs, at such a price 128 should be standard without those two.
