A LOT of technology comes from the US a huge amount of capital is poured into Silicon Valley to develop tech. I agree that every country has the right to tax companies operating in their borders, at least the revenue that is generated in that country. If companies like FB/Google/Apple don't like them, they can simply pull their operations out. I doubt the US does much other than maybe some retaliatory tariff...assuming those companies are lobbying for such measures.
