ericwang, 11 Oct 2020China started to retire most of their 2G network from 2018,but the 3G network is weak in China... moreIt is stupid to remove 2G because 2G saved so many lives. 2G have the longer range, about 20 km from the antenna in open space. If someone is lost in mountains , 2G is the only chance to reach somewhere some weak signal to make a sos voice call. 4G signal has only 5 km range in open space and is much weaker to penetrate the obstacles like trees, rocks, walls. 2G must remain because of its long distance and power of penetration for sos calls in remote areas.

Joe, 10 Oct 2020Maybe it's because some of the better developed countries are discontinuing 2G altogether... moreChina started to retire most of their 2G network from 2018,but the 3G network is weak in China(due to they insist on their own 3G standard:TD-SCDMA)
So the phone directly go to 4G and use VoLTE to make a call

Outside of big cities, there is not much 5G networks, even in those, it doesn't make much difference between 4G and 5G without mmWaves, what the point of 5G currently except costlier phones ?

I am constantly defending the possibility of designs absent of front facing camera (among with any other uncommon designs, for diversity sake), which result facing unjustified and useless, arrogant and egocentric comments which quickly become rude, from peoples who would have absolutely no negative impact from the existence of such phones but who keep aggressively maintain a highly opposing position against such idea, just because their limited capacity of accepting differences, their instinctive resistance toward difference, and total inability to accept that other peoples could have the chance and have the right to be able to find a device containing their preferred set of features.
One of the reason for my preference toward the absence of front facing camera, or alternatively pop up camera is for privacy concerns, so I am well aware of all this.
