Unpopular opinion: The last iPhones are so smooth it doesn't even matter, except for maybe gaming.
Lilian, 12 Oct 2020How about that's bull***t? They also removed the charger, just cost cutting all around. ... moreWell it's one way Apple became a Trillion $ company. Add few of already common features also remove a few then increase the price significantly. At this point, we can't just blame Apple alone since users still buys them anyway then the cycle continues.

They can be implemented via adaptive RR. They don't run for example at full 120Hz all the time, only when an app is capable of doing so that it will be utilized. I have a phone with 120Hz but I watch youtube and netflix videos @ 30fps 90% of the time so the screen refresh rate is only at 30Hz which saves even more battery than locking the refresh rate at 60Hz. This is a phone priced at around 250USD with 5kmAh battery. For the price that iPhones are being sold, they shouldn't even have this type of excuse.

120hz display is already the norm.

How embarrassing it must be when one has to pay 1000 plus dollars yet have to beg for basic features that exist on cheap phones already.

Unlike Apple, Android manufacturers don't need to choose between 5g and 120hz.
They are already giving both.
Even 300$ devices are offering both 5g and 120hz display.
This is why Android is the OS of choice on smartphones as they offer users a buffet of options to choose from.
While iOS users have to resort to begging until next year.
iH8allFanboys, 12 Oct 2020Dude 120Hz on phones need time to be perfected. Most people prefer to have better battery life... moreTake your fake news somewhere else.
120hz and above have already been perfected. They hardly consume less than 10% more battery compared to 60hz.
It will magically become useful and perfect when next year you'll get it on your iPhone.
Anonymous, 13 Oct 2020Typical brainless response. The iphones do run at a higher resolution!

OnePlus 8 pro and find X2 pro already give 120hz out of the box.
Only Samsung has that limitation.

120hz screen when scrolling or navigating through UI is buttery smooth, if you ever used 120hz screen you won't go back, 60hz will be very choppy.
I think it's a smart choice. If Apple goes 5G then every country in the world will go 5G just to make all the children happy. Which means, Philippines for example will have more 5G tower stations than ever. High Refresh Rate will be standardized by Apple once all phones got Graphene batteries with 65w Gallium Nitride chargers on every box. HRR is still gimmicky and young for the smartphone but it has potential, and it still has.
I'm with Apple - I'll take a faster network over a smooth frame rate. HRR only makes sense for mobile gaming, and it's not that important.
If it was an android it would have included both 5G and 120Hz.. With a toggle to enable and disable each feature as users like.. But this is Apple and Apple knows what is best for you.. LOL
DragonNF, 13 Oct 2020I am not begging, but if anyone used a high refresh rate for an hour, he could notice the diff... moreI would take 5G over 120hz as I keep my iphones for 3 years minimum. At this point i'm not happy tho as I'd like both before committing to a phone for 3 years.
Apple's market does have 5G. Japan, USA, Canada, China, UK, Nordic countries, Australia. I live in the UK and 5G is everywhere and included at no extra cost. I have a 5G contract and no 5G phone.

They don't have a higher resolution display but they run at higher resolutions. (not talking about entry level iphones)
Out of the box galaxy phones for example run at 1080p even if they have QHD displays. The iphone max models do run at 2688 x 1242 compared to eg a note 20 ultra at 1080p! Technically even the iphone X runs at a higher resolution than most androids! Of course you can change the resolution on the android phones to run at QHD but you don't get 120hz, out of the box and most people have their phones set to 1080p. (Exceptions being oneplus but at what cost?).
It's a fact. Not a fanboy. I use both platforms.

5G is only noticable in few regions in a few countries.
