This is crap. If the Desire S with exactly the same specs can b upgraded to ICS then surely DHD can also b upgraded. The company is giving bullshit. They will surely loose their customer base.

Well alli can say is if the phone isn't going to be good enough then htc have made the rut decision. If he phone is faster on gingerbread then it's best to leave it there to avoid sluggish performance. All htc are trying to do is not ruin their reputation by creating a crap phone. I have the desire s and still haven't got the ics update. If you want ics that bad then install it yourself from a rom!!

So can't the user backup their personal data and restore it after upgrading to ICS?

Only God can explain why they say a lot of excuses to don't update and cyanogen do this without problems.

Unfortunatelly, HTC is diving.

they can release this update and say to user if you want, you can upgrade it with this issue!
somebody will do it , somebody dont want
this is user choice but not their choice!!

I cant quite remember as its been a while since I used my DHD and HTC but dont they have some kind of Kies or Nokia PC Suite where you can store all your data just incase you loose it and then restore it back?.All companies have one so personal data could be stored-upgrade your phone-and then restore via PC Suite. This is a rip-off for the DHD user.

"So, they can't update because of their own software choice will lead users to potentially loose data. Even though there's a ton of backup software available. Basically, they're admitting they're incompetent."

They are incompetent but at least they should release the proprietary drivers and source kernel 3.0 so people over XDA can create a fully working stable ICS :}

M$ like to overcharge customer so it not easy to stick to them except cooperate that no mind paying more. I download xbox 360 apps like youtube, daily motion but delete them the next moment as it require that i upgrade my account from silver to gold and cost $80. Yuck!.

Funny reasons...!!! phone with less power like Desire s & Incredible S are upgrading to ice-cream sandwich...!!!
In my opinion after all of my experience with this device HTC is the worst company of mobile in software support...!
Just look at schedules as each 4 update for Galaxy S there may be 1 for Desire HD...!
At that time Galaxy S was best selled phone for Samsung and Desire HD was the best for HTC...!!!
I'm going to buy Galaxy SIII.
And tell any one who read this never buy HTC phones...!!!!!!!!
They are the worst in support...!
I wants to change my phone sooner but because of their lie on upgrading I just waited...!
