Import and export levies vary by country, and by country-to-country relationship. Internally, countries have VAT, sales tax and even regional or city taxes which all impact the price of the device."
There you have it. Again nothing shady. Same when Apple can suddenly lower iPhone price or make it higher in some country during a year.

Either way i do... moreWhat's worse is that the prices even outside US aren't uniformly high, the disparity continues even by the country, like in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and South Korea, the 12 mini is the about the same price that was announced, same as the US prices, but elsewhere they're as much as 30% more. I don't understand why this company is so shady with their pricing

The prices always been much higher? It haven’t stopped them selling and it won’t do it now either, I live in EU and 12 mini cost 829e here. But still iPhone 12 going to be the best seller with 929e price tag. We are currently buying more expensive phones than ever before, people want value for their money so that’s why iPhones been in very big demand.

To add to it, in this region there's no 5G yet so it makes for an even more overpriced device, but not a bad phone at all, just not well priced by Apple, considering Samsung prices their flagships exactly or very similarly around the world and the variation is small, by the regions, the Fold 2 for example is $2000 here just like in US, but the top end iPhone 12 Pro Max on the other hand, is actually just as much here, which is once again, overpriced, not to mention the Fold 2 comes with accessories and even a case

samsung user, 14 Oct 2020I find it funny how apple use the side fingerprint hahahahha i use my s10e for about 2 years a... moreikr... my sony xperia z5 premium from 2015 already have this... they just cant function there in us due to legal issues imposed by apple, and now they are using it...
but, honestly, this generation of iphone is good... design wise, if the corners get a less curvier, i think it would be better... and the notch, it disrupts the viewing experience based on the video on unveiling... if only they can hide it with black bars only when a video is playing... but whatever, i already got my 1ii
