LOL, i recall a local video where the guy was so dumb that he said that the leather on some of his store purses was "vegan leather" cause the animals died but they were not eaten...for real, "vegan leather" is most likely plastic, but there are some that come from plants too, i have not seen any of them live tho, other than the plastic fake leather we all have seen since forever.

They should have done it like the OPPO X2 Pro (full color)... With orange vegan leather it felt and looked too good especially with its stock wallpaper. Absolute love... but personally this half n half back color on the other hand, seems a bit off to me.

Very bad name for the backside.
Leather is leather.
When they say PU leather I feel it could mean PU coated leather, PU blended with leather bits or just PU looking like leather. Which make quite a difference regardless of whatever you are vegan or actually wanted leather.
And here it's "vegan leather", since no animal product would be vegan that should make it clear that it's not leather but just looking like it but there's still leather in the name.
