So LiDar is just an apple fancy naming for the depth sensor” it’s not, LiDAR is name of the tech just like ToF. LiDAR is kind a ToF just more advanced version. Apple is using different name than ToF because it’s not ToF it’s LiDAR just google it.
” The LiDAR Scanner maps the area point by point, minimizing the noise received and therefore resulting in a more accurate reading and 3D point cloud. 3D ToF sensors used in Android smartphones are also vulnerable to light reflected from a specular surface, a flat surface which creates a mirror-like reflection”

Too much milking the cow on every little thing, I don’t want to be part of, and it is not like there are no better options either!

Apple just made it harder to switch from Android to iOS. I know specs don't mean much compared to actual performance but I feel more comfortable having a specs phone than a powerful processor that just saves milliseconds.

Am not going to buy a iphone no changer and I hate notch on smartphones I also hate finger print readers if I was to buy a iphone
I buy a cheap iphone I think apple is only a good choice when you're looking for a cheap smartphone like the iphone 5c
ios really is just not as good as android it's just to limited for a high end smartphone I wish apple fix this problem by dual booting both android & ios on one of there iphone modals

4x better dro... moreOk . So LiDar is just an apple fancy naming for the depth sensor . The 5x zoom has been in android since p30 pro and apple just gives you 2.5x . Even the iphone xs has got OLED so it is not something new . Apple said it is 4x more drop resistant but they didn't said anything about the scratch resistance .
Anyway soon Sd 875 will launch and it will be also be 5 nm.

was debating on either the SE 2020 or the 12 mini because I'm mildly sensitive to PWM, but after trying an XS with the white point reduction setting on I'm sold on the 12 mini.

For the first time ever, the Mini made me consider buying an iPhone. This won't happen any time soon-I am too tied with Android and notch is so 2018-but I give to Apple that they made a phone I actually liked.

Beautiful phones in terms of designs. Especially the blue and for me the silver one (looks like a solid piece of metal).
Was hoping to try the mini but I'm sceptical about the battery life.
Apple didn't mentioned anything about the batteries on any of the models so it doesn't give me much hope, not for mini at least, given the size.
Let's be honest there's not much room for a big battery and optimisations alone wont save the model.
Regular iPhone 12, imo, is the model to go for, and I would happily spend my money on it. The most improved one and a good sweet spot in terms of physical size.

Apple's LiDAR sensor and 3D ToF sensors in some Android phones are very different.
The LiDAR sensor can capture a whole room, with way more details, lesser noise, faster and from farther distance (>5m) than the "traditional" 3D ToF sensors that are found on some higher-end Android phones. It can also create a 3D mesh model of a real object with greater accuracy, by using thousands of infrared dots (comparable to the 3D face scanners).
It's definitely one of the reasons for me, to test an iPhone after a decade of Android devices.

My 6s still working great with the new update and the original battery. So i would stick with it for now.
If given a choice, i would go for xr or 11 only because of lcd screens. But 12 n mini are led....
I have seen screen burn ins in samsung phones and would stay away from it.
