JDK, 17 Oct 2020I dunno, but the first iPhone with a14 will launch in october. We are already 16 days into October.
I said users who pre-order get their hands on it in two weeks which means early Nov.

yeah sure, what an android-boy will say.
You will never buy the iPhone in your lifetime cause you trash it so much.

Android.Master, 17 Oct 2020Antutu is the best compound benchmark and gives a general idea of how the phone should perform... moreAntutu weighs all factors equally, when ACTUAL real life usage uses the RAM score, CPU score and GPU score differently.
Antutu should weigh less important scores, such as RAM(I dunno about you, but I don't have 30 different apps open at a time), and prioritize more important features, such as CPU and GPU, in order to obtain an accurate score.
Or just separate all the scores into different categories.
Whatever you think about "real life" usage, geekbench calculates processor-only, so it's less prone to variation.
I don't think I'm the one that's salty here. Your proof that antutu is the best is that it matches with "real life performance", yet when antutu keeps it's algorithm yet gives an abnormaly low score you don't think is correct, you will immediately discredit it.
Even if iPhone scores lower in geekbench, I know that it will do worse in real life because I know it is accurate.
I bet 99% once geekbench gives iPhones lower scores than android, you will immediately raise it's credibility.
It's just what fanbois do.
dbjungle, 16 Oct 2020Apple has mastered the art of the upsale. However, there are so many people who only care abo... moreHow will it backfire? They know that they will sell more of the standard iPhone 12 that is why the spent the longest time on it in the presentation. Just like the XR and iPhone 11 they will become their biggest sellers. Plus it has the updates that people wanted in that tier mainly and oled screen I had the XR and that was a major complaint for me everything else worked amazingly well.
Anonymous, 16 Oct 2020Don't compare A14 with Snapdragon 875, that's not fair A14 is a 2020 chipset not a 2... moreIncorrect, most people will get their hands on A14 based phones in as early as Nov'20 while Pro Max models will be available even late.
SD875 will be launching on a pleothra of devices starting from Jan'21-Feb'21.
Saying it's unfair to compare phones running chips that are 2-3 months apart is unfair itself.
JDK, 16 Oct 2020That's using antutu, which is impacted by many more factors than CPU performance.
Antu... moreAntutu is the best compound benchmark and gives a general idea of how the phone should perform in speed tests and real world usage.
You are just salty that iPhone couldn't score higher on a real benchmark like Antutu which is why you are desperately trying to make excuses for its lackluster score.

Anonymous, 16 Oct 2020The 5.4" iPhone 12 costs $700 and the 6.1" iPhone 12 costs $800, just a $100 more. ... moreThe iPhone 12 128GB and iPhone 12 Pro 128 GB prices are only $100 apart though. Considering you'll already be spending $900 that extra $100 isn't as big of a deal anymore. They really blurred the lines, but I think the iPhone 12 64GB is the best value, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about 64GB long term. I'm not an iPhone user tho, so we can get 128GB standard on $200 Android phones lul.
Anonymous, 16 Oct 2020Yeah, there is less of a price difference between the normal and the pro model phones this yea... moreApple has mastered the art of the upsale. However, there are so many people who only care about having an iPhone rather than the best iPhone. So I think ultimately it will backfire and they'll sell most in the base iPhone 12 model. I think the mini will probably flop. Sure some people will like it, but the screen is unnecessarily small.

Whi... moreI hardly ever game on my phone, but when I do it's Arena of Valor or Among Us. I could run those on a 3 year old phone. This is why I don't care about Antutu scores, but I do care about the CPU scores of Geekbench. Ultimately though everyone wants something different in their phone.
While I'll hold off my judgement until reviewers get their hands on the actual devices, if this comes out to be true then it will indicate that Apple's changing their strategy from "Excellent burst performance + very good sustained performance" from "Great sustained performance".
With Apple Silicon Macs coming out, they probably felt the need of improving upon power efficiency to put up a good fight against AMD - and their phone SoC, which is built on the same process node and architecture, will inherit the characteristics of whatever the SoC they will put on their new Macbook/Macbook Pro.
