LG Superfan, 20 Oct 2020Yeah your answer are so long and technical that I usually just get lost lolOh, okay, I see, I'll try to make my comments with "TL;DR", a little more detailed but not technical, and a full technical part for those who are curious then.
But one important bit to not miss here is that Periscopes aren't only for Telephotos, my concept design showcase how all major lens type typically found on smartphones can be feed into a single sensor using Periscopes for exemple.
LG Superfan, 20 Oct 2020What I really wanted to know is which one is better for smartphones and why use periscope with... moreThis is LITERALLY what I wrote, also I generally don't answer just for a single person, I take the opportunity to write for anyone else who are curious, which is why I give often more details than what the person needed (and also because I don't know who know what).
So if you want a simplified answer : the Periscope is clearly better, and inline Telephoto lens can't really do the same, that's why Periscope Telephoto often achieve way higher magnification (zoom).
Anonymous, 19 Oct 2020All that regurgitated info you got offline and just the last sentence was needed .
I'll just let you think about how stupid your sentence is for a little while...
Done ? Ok, how do you think we learn stuff ? Do you think we get born with knowledge ?
Of course I learned things from internet, literally most programmers have learned this way, as long as I am right, who care where I learned it ?
Only the last sentence needed ?
There is those things called "teaching" and "learning".
I don't see the point of explaining something without explaining how it work and why it is this or that way.
That last sentence was just a recap of the difference, all the rest was how it work and the rest of the explanation as to why it is that way.
This is EXACTLY what is wrong with education, teaching how to do maths without explaining why it is done that way and how it work.
the design is great except for the notch or hole or anything it's called hahahaha
Demongornot, 19 Oct 2020TL;DR : Telephoto = Lens that allow to see far, Periscope = A configuration where the lens is ... moreWhat I really wanted to know is which one is better for smartphones and why use periscope with 90°angle when a telephoto can do the same?
Android.Master, 20 Oct 2020Lol Good luck thinking that Mate 40 series camera will be huge upgrade compared to P40 series.... moreIf you compare the photo samples from P30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro, the improvement in image quality (especially the detail level and dynamic range) is anything but "marginal". I suggest you to look into the actual samples first, it's not the same as comparing the cameras on Galaxy S series to those on Note series.
AnonD-754814, 20 Oct 2020Yeah. You're using mate 20, I know. You're also from Kuala Lumpur, Right ?Yes. 😉
AnonD-754814, 20 Oct 2020A little more power hungry than it could have been.
Glad to see that Huawei is saving some mo... moreLet's see how it turns out.
About Kirin 980 device that I'm using for 2 years already, no complains whatsoever. Heaviest apps & games today can put into highest quality yet still smooth. Overall performance since day one, battery life since day one. Actually I dont know what can slow it down.
Other chipset, yes they are better on the specsheet, but for that kind of performance it'll be worth it if u use the phone for 5-6 years. As I'm changing flagship every 2 years (catching up with other tech other than chipset), I see no problems about it.
Nick Tagataka, 19 Oct 2020Ah, not really? Mate 30 Pro didn't use a periscope telephoto lens butt the overall image ... moreLol Good luck thinking that Mate 40 series camera will be huge upgrade compared to P40 series.
ISP and image processing can only bring marginal improvements at best.
Shui8, 19 Oct 2020What about it?A little more power hungry than it could have been.
Glad to see that Huawei is saving some money from CPU and putting those on extra GPU core. Though I still believe 24 cores G78 is just unreal.
Anyway It would be a nice move by Huawei if they use even 18 core.
Without Google Apps, this is an expensive bleh.
Why would anyone in the developed world buy a device from a company in bed with an authoritarian regime with murky privacy policies is beyond me. The Chinese financed pay-to-play sites will rank it at the top, of course.
I really like this design.. Hope huawei will stick with this for the final product.. Simple and elegant
And apple will be pissed to see their ipod scrolling wheel like design on huawei phone.. Lol
"There’s no periscope for one"
Yet you can clearly see one on the top left corner of the array of camera modules on the back..
Also, Huawei: PLEASE no RYYB sensor this time around.
Android.Master, 19 Oct 2020There is no 80mp sensor from any camera sensor manufacturer. Mate series is not known for ... moreAh, not really? Mate 30 Pro didn't use a periscope telephoto lens butt the overall image quality was much superiour to P30 and P30 Pro thanks to the upgraded ISP. This 20MP sensor might end up being 1/1.2" given how large the lens opening is compared to P40 Pro's UWA camera, and this could become a huge upgrade from P40 series hardware wise, but who knows.
