The Apple charger communicates at the same frequency and voltages for those phones' charging system to accept it and charge safely. In reverse, it also means Apple is probably not using a proprietary iPhone charge system and you could safely get by using a cheaper Qi approved wireless charger.

Uggh. Everytime I see or watch about Magsafe, I still could not imagine how it is better than a reversible cable such as type-c or lightning cable.
Until we see a wireless pad larger than a mouse pad that doesn't need alignment, I'm not interested with wireless charging.
