I see they waited until they thought they could charge big-brand money rather than getting in earlier.
They really should have made their move in line with the 2018 WC, I remember being very confused at seeing their adboards there for a phone (the first one with a pop-up camera IIRC?) you couldn't get in most of the biggest markets for said advert.

Vivo sells phones in Russian Federation for the quite some time - IIRC from 2018.
Also, 4/5 of Russian population live in the European part (west of Ural).
If vivo enters Europe then Huawei is officially dead

Anonymous, 20 Oct 20201/3 of it's country size located in Europe by Geographically Although Russia is thought of by many people as a European country, almost three quarters of its landmass is actually in Asia, east of the Urals. Anything to the west of the Urals is considered to be in Europe and everywhere on the Eastern side of the range is considered to be in Asia. Somewhat bizarrely, more Russians live in the European part of the country than the Asian part. It's worth noting that Russia has never actually decreed itself as being an Asian or European country.
The Lenovo Z6 Pro had an eight-axis OIS for its dedicated video camera so what is so unprecedented about this Vivo's OIS?

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2020Does't vivo already sell in Russia? Russia is Europe. Geographically it is 2/3 of it's country size in Europe but when market matters then it's EU as European union and Russia isn't part of the EU
£750!!! for a brand that is just entering? And SoC isn't worth £750 only thing this has is gimbal which I doubt many will care about
IMO they should focus on Mid and Entry level first
Seeing how underwhelming OnePlus is doing in EU, I say unless you get your distribution and support right, otherwise, no need to come to EU.
Does't vivo already sell in Russia?
Russia is Europe.
A new entrant to the European market is a good thing, but what are they thinking with the pricing? A OnePlus 8T is £200 cheaper than this X51. With little brand recognition they need to be undercutting the more familiar brands, not charging much more! It's a shame because they won't be successful at these prices.
£750 when even the Pixel 5 is £150 less! That is also before you consider the OnePlus Nord, Galaxy A51, Xiaomi Mi 10 lite 5g and Pixel 4a 5G. Hopefully the rest of their lineup will be better priced
Whilst I'm glad this is getting a wider EU release, no one of sound mind in the UK will be spending £750 on this. That chipset just isn't worth it. I think even if this was the Pro+ version it would still struggle. It's the same issue with the Oppo Reno 4 Pro 5G, far too overpriced for what it sells for domestically. I can get the X50 Pro for £425 imported so this just doesn't make sense.
