Samsung is a manufacture, not a OS developer. Apple owns and controls its hardware and OS. Apple can buy components from anywhere in the world. Even Samsung buys from other manufactures. I really dont think this is a great issue for Samsung as they can use any OS they choose. Right now they are spending more on Win 8 product development which is likely to burn a large hole in all things Google and Android. Win 8 is prospectively about to change the entire mobile phone dynamics so the only winner from this is MS. They must be laughing their box off at all this rubbish regardless of so called technology that a mobile must contain in today's market. For all the Apple and Samsung haters out there, grow up, go and have a cold shower, and buy a little candy bar Nokia. Seems to fit your mentality, and the phone probably works better in any case.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2012why is the judge not taking any of that as evidence ? is she a apple fans or something ?? How can they take something that is a prototype and take that as evidence? It wouldn't make any difference because apple didn't actually create that handset they were just ideas whereas you can quite clearly see apple products in handsets such as they Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus = Iphone 3GS and the Galaxy Ace = Iphone 4/4s. Not really innovative is it? You all keep arguing about Iphone copying but I havent seen a design from apple that resembles another phone until Samsung released there quite blatent copies of those handsets. Personally I hope apple win the case and Samsung Start making more creative designs like there S3.
nayz, 02 Aug 2012My only comments on this matter; 1. The Judge is obviously an Apple Lover. How can you dismi... moreNayz exactly I think touch screens was already invented by Sony before Apple. Like the P series phones. However you did have to use a pointer to to write things and couldn't use your fingers to touch the screen or zoom into pictures. Wonder why Sony didn't sue Apple for that. Its an American thing to sue blindly without knowing the facts and Judge Koh looks as if she has taken the bias role to throw out important evidence from Samsung which explains the truth about patents. Maybe it is true that she's an apple user and quietly wants to look as if she's unbias. Free apple products for her if apple wins. lol.
Sammy Sam, 02 Aug 2012Samsung is a copycat company.. No originality!!You are a copy cat too. Since the quote you use has been used by others long time back. You aint got originality too.
You are just as childish as Apple. It is just obvious that Apple is worried of Samsung taking away their market share. Why of all target Samsung? Because they are simply one of the largest Android maker as of now. Seriously if Apple care about their consumers, then they should be putting more effort making something that appeals and listen to their customers of their needs rather than trying to make things their way and when people make better stuffs they cannot stand it can come with such lawsuit. This is just plain childish.
Well, when it comes to technology obviously Samsung is the winner. Apples LCD's were supplied by Samsung. LETS JUST FACE IT, APPLE MUST ADMIT THAT THEY ARE LOSING SALES BECAUSE SAMSUNG IS A BETTER TABLET AND PHONE MANUFACTURER!!! And they are filing stupid law suits just to stop the selling of Samsung devices. Because people will not be stopped in buying the best there is in the market, and that is SAMSUNG. Suck it up Apple.
This is a joke..Apple comes in the market checks out other phones, and makes the Iphone, with adjustments and improvements.Thats like me stealing money, someone else steal that money from me,Now I am all inocent and want the thieves to be put to justice, when I am the original Thief...what goes arround comes Around
I had a phone with a big touchscreen back in 2002. It was the Sony Ericsson P800. Now who's the copycat?
My only comments on this matter;
1. The Judge is obviously an Apple Lover. How can you dismiss evidence that is vital to someone's defence! its simply law 101.
2. Apple looking at this Copied the design themselves and then patented it. If you go back in the history of phones before Apple came into the market a lot of phones had similar design... no one was suing each other as no one patient the designs.
3. Apple have used technology without peoples consent. Their Touch screen for one. It was a rip off of a University Professors designs for touch screens.
4. Apple software not "Unique"....Android 1.6 all im going to say.
5. Apple Fanboi's wake up....
nayz, 02 Aug 2012Apple Unique? Seriously! Ok they innovated the smartphone which was dying out due to lack of i... moreAmen to that.
And for someone in the older posts said that Apple was the first to fully utilize the touchscreen in mobile phones or smartphone, you know nothing.
PDA phones existed way back early 2K.
There were O2's which bdw was made by HTC, HP iPaq's, Palm Treo's etc.
Niharranjan, 02 Aug 2012Hello Friends, In my life i used so many mobile phones, the latest mobile phones are Sony Eri... moreApple Unique? Seriously! Ok they innovated the smartphone which was dying out due to lack of ideas. However it wasn't their idea. An since the Iphone 3G their software has been far from "Unique" and the phone reliability has been poor. The phone shape again wasn't the first HTC had been creating similar style phones yrs before. Alot of the "New" Features in Apple's software releases of late you could get in Android 1.6!. The only thing "Unique about Apple products is the price!.
In my life i used so many mobile phones, the latest mobile phones are Sony Ericsson Experia Arc,Apple iPhone4,Samsung Galaxy SIII & Nokia Lumina 800 .
But one thing I would definitely say is that The Apple phones are so unique.
Trust me i'm not supporter of apple phones bcz what i'm feeling please believe it.
AnonD-19294, 02 Aug 2012smooth apple.
what do you like in apple.
the phone that on unlock doesnt have wallpaper.
af... morequite spamming every forum with this garbage you troll
why do people buy new houses, new cars, new tvs, new clothes, new speakers, different foods, or any new things?
And minimal improvements? Seriously? you cant comment on phones if you know nothing about phones.
Anonymous, 02 Aug 2012so why samsunk not give their prototype earlier... rather than they look up for sony design fi... moreit wasnt ready for release yet. they had no shame in admitting that then. it was a project that took a while to finish.
Whatchasay, 02 Aug 2012Samsung didn't disclose the evidence in time. Before a trial there is an allocated period of... moreThats not exactly how it all works. First off more evidence can be found and used. its not like if it wasnt there in the beginning or was found or brought up later that means nore more evidence is allowed. at that rate many people would be in huge trouble. second the public getting ahold of it is not contempt of court cause they are not classified or secret or un public type files and the apple slides are out too
AnonD-13154, 02 Aug 2012So in short. Sony launches a concept design. Apple copies it for their Iphone. Samsung sees... moreactually apple didnt copy a sony device to make the iphone. read the article again. they used the company sony as inspiration. and samsung did not use the iphone design nor was apple the first to use such aesthetics.
Don't these iPhone prototypes look a wee bit too much like some of the older Sony Ericssons? Lawsuit!
I'm tired of all of this.
I'll just buy good phones in nearby store, regardless what judge Koh says,
[deleted post]Could you explain his comment then? What is he talking about?
