I want Mate 40 Pro+ just because of its super slow mo but I'll wait for the review first.

Since I am a former Android user who has now long switched to Windows Phone/10 Mobile as my daily driver to this day, I would definitely be interested in trying out HMS Huawei phones, especially the Harmony OS if that is happening for real.
But I wouldn't really bother on the Mate 40 Pro or the Mate 40 Pro+, the vanilla Mate 40 is already more than good enough for me. It has the same main camera as the other two variant and 3x zoom telephoto camera, which is definitely more than good enough for me. Plus, it has 3.5mm audio jack - definitely a BIG bonus for the vanilla Mate 40.
Huawei is a dead brand. The entire company is doomed, not just its smartphone division. More countries are boycotting Huawei for building 5G infrastructure.
That's what you get for defying sanctions, trading with Iran, stealing technology and collaborating with the PLA. Oh, and not forgetting the illegal detention of two Canadians just because the Huawei princess was detained in Canada. Hostage diplomacy.
go buy yo iphones and stay off huawei. only then will the prices fall sufficiently for me to snag a mate 40.
My opinion, I found the matter a little biased, who made it forgot to use the information as a basis and put the opinion itself that ends up forming opinion of the reader
You need to keep your choices out of the matter, try to avoid personalism when you pass on the next information.
No matter how good the Huawei products. But I am not going to buy their products. They are controlled by authoritarian CCP government. I will have deep privacy concerns. CCP doesn't spares their own Chinese Citizens and condemns them to heavy surveillance and social credit system. I don't know what they would do to citizens of other nations!

I can do all the youtube and google play store thing, I am fine with tinkering with my device. But if god forbid I can't do anything regards to banking apps, I won't consider a future Huawei phone.

I have spent my money on Google Play so for sure I will not switch over to Harmony since my paid apps will not be available on Harmony for sure. Not going to pay again for the same apps.
Well this poll is really telling. Even the Samsung haters want nothing to do with Huawei, a self-absorbed company that will soon be irrelevant outside the Chinese market should Trump win the elections next month.
Huawei stands for its name, the true innovator. I will go for Huawei. The only thing I suggest is the price too high. Make it lower and you get the same profit with higher sale volume.
Nope. No GMS no talk. Why spend so much for such a hassle model when there are so many other choices with GMS fully equipped? Even if I'm not fully dependent on GMS, I will rather get an iPhone 12 than Mate 40. At least I have more choices to decided if I want to use Google services or not, and much longer OS support too.
Oh, man...a disapointment when I went to the shop on Saturday, browsed through Mate 40Pro menu and in the OS settings I see "Android". Pff...add to that a display cutout, it is a no go for me.
I was on Windows Phone and it sunk horrible like the Titanic... i loved the platform but people hated WP to death anyways. With that in mind, i don't think any Huawei OS could fare better in the west.
