I still don't see any significant benefit of going with a clamshell design. While shorter height might make it easier to put the device into a small, loose pocket, for jeans increased thickness would be simply a nightmare especially when you want to put it in the same pocket as your wallet goes into. It will make it more resistant to scratches when being carried around, but you're screwed if you accidentally drop it when it's open as the display is made out of very soft plastic. Unlike foldable tablets like Z Fold 2 you must open it up every time you want to use the display and close it when you put it back (and you're, again, screwed in case you forget to do so), not to mention that you will lose all certified dust and water resistance thanks to the hinge design. For me the disadvantages massively overweigh the advantages, and definitely it's not for me.
Anonymous, 26 Oct 2020not hard to do if you have 1000 in stockYou don't seem to acknowledge how quickly phones sell online in China or in India. 1 billion population is a LOT of people, you know.

my only gripe is the weird cover design, Razr does it better with the rectangular one
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2020Yeah, the mate x is a copy right? yeah, the entire mate line was made to challenge the Galaxy Note line, but at least Huawei has class and doesn't explicitly show it off.
Xiaomi on the other hand....
There was no point in naming their series "Note" but they just had to, lol.
AnonD-762416, 24 Oct 2020The "new" Huawei Z Fold 2 is a carbon copy of the you-know-who and now their Huawei ... moreWell said. Even the naming scheme of some OEMs has similar names to famous flagships, attempting to dilute the value of the name, with none of the actual functions they copy the names of.
The Z Flip is a good phone. It could be even better with a larger outer display (in 4:3 ratio and about 2-3 inches, mostly to use for selfies and read notifications properly), slightly more sleek design. Samsung could get rid of the free charger, the free AKG headphones and some other stuff from the box, if that could guarantee higher sales form lowering of price.

BigDisplay, 24 Oct 2020Agree 100% except the jack, i don't miss anymore
And then i miss the 16:9 ratio, sooo m... moreYeah, but since it cause no harm to have it anyway, better leave it on the phone for the tons of peoples who use it, since the vast majority want and use it and some even need it for some specific uses.
The 16:9 have its advantages, it is a good ratio, though a slightly taller for accounting for the status bar would be better, the other ratio that I like is 2:1, or 20:10, or 18:9 depending on how peoples like to call it (I prefer 2:1) as it is used in a wide variety of media, it is large enough to display 16:9 media and tall enough to display higher formats like 21:9 without causing too much cropping :

Frankly Galaxy Flip was indeed tempting if it was little bigger with SPen support slightly lesser price of course. Z Fold 2 was completely opposite....too big, too expensive...but Huawei clearly copying Samsung. Apple nowhere to be seen in the top battle.... conveniently left to milk it's loyalists, royally!
No GMS...no interest.

Now just do the same on a non-foldable phone.
Bring that Mate 40 Pro Plus with a flat display, no front camera (use the main ToF for 3D face recognition) and give it a Jack and I instantly buy it !
Stay strong...
