Lack of support from app developers killed it along with weak promo from bb. Blackberry was on decline for years when they launched it

I think this might happen as well with Huawei after the hype is over of having a new OS.

Huawei repeatedly changing tune and flip-flopping...long ago they said Harmony is 60% faster than Android, that they have faster compilers, etc etc...

Fact is, Hongmeng is vaporware at this point. If they find it hard to sell phones without Google apps, imagine how much harder it would be to launch a phone with an entirely different OS. Good luck, that's all I can say...prove us wrong.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2020Dont Believe this sht. Its still android with chongmeng skin ui.It is apparently based on a microkernel (like Windows) and not a monolithic kernel (like Linux/Android). But it's also meant to be compatible with Android apps. There is some software wizardry going on.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_OS

You can have a look at the source code.

Huawei Lover, 28 Oct 2020if Harmony os is only a skin/launcher on top of android then i am so upset like emui, Miui, or... moreHarmony os is a completely different operating system, but it will feel similar to emui because this what tha company thinks the phone experience should feel like.
But it's no android, harmony os is able to be used on many different devices what will make a great seamless experience with the other harmony os devices.
In short they make there own ecosystem

It will interesting if Huawei can manage to get Harmony OS outside of China because they will try something that many tried and all of them failed and very hard: establish a third mobile OS... Windows Phone, Sailfish, Fire OS, Firefox OS, Tizen, etc, etc...

Hope Biden wins he looks like a nicer guy and this ban was little too much. Messing in the highest technologies is a little too much for politicians.

If trump win, then huawei still got banned. ... moreIt is a trade war between the two countries, the ban will still continue regardless who will win the election. It is either Huawei will be the next HTC or they will have to settle in China to survive.
