[deleted post]Just scram, you're just a closeted Sony fan, as you don't even like Sony but decided to keep on commenting on the Sony comment section. At least Sony outsold you with ease.

I love Sony, and I back them, not the reporter who thinks memory is more important... Clearly people already think Sony will talk about ram, instead of the superior Sony video and overall phone 📱

GaushikTECH Nerd, 28 Oct 2020They are repeating the same mistakes:( They are releasing new RAM variants for the mobile ins... moreAgree.
Sony mobile marketing and sales team should be fired.
There is zero understanding to the market, and even MKBHD noticed and talked about that.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2020Where are all the Sony guys who said Sony doesn't give 12gb RAM coz they don't need ... moreIt's actually a good thing they are giving choice of 120hz@1080p, 12gb RAM to consumers.
These Sony Fffans on this site are toxic and would defend omission of these things till eternity.
Good job Sony for not listening to their fanbase and thinking about broader consumer base in general.
That's how you increase sales which in turn is critical for your smartphone division surviving the cut throat level of competition in smartphone segment.

Dessert3394, 28 Oct 2020I don't see any major improvements of 12GB over 8GB, Just we have to pay extra bucks for ... moreIt's for futureproofing.
Snapdragon 865 based phones can run mighty fine even 5 years down the line and won't be outdated as they are all 5g enabled.

Where are all the Sony guys who said Sony won't give 120hz@1080p to save battery.
All are in hiding!

Jack Frost, 28 Oct 2020I didn't mean editing a "single clip". Editing multiple clips with advanced eff... moreYes, you have a point, but when you're going to edit using many advanced layers and effects, it would be:
a.) You'll be closing other unnecessary or unused apps to make sure that only the editing software will be utilizing majority of your available RAM.
b.) You'll open other apps, and be just fine with some of them having to restart all over. It's still the same anyway, you just didn't bother closing any other app.
c.) You're better off doing editing on a full-blown laptop or desktop altogether. Phones do have enough power to handle many heavy tasks, but they're not entirely capable of replacing a true PC yet.

Although 12GB RAM makes a lot of sense for future-proofing, I highly doubt 8GB RAM will be incredibly bottle-necked in the next 3 years or so. Heck, Android 11 runs just fine even on 3GB RAM budget phones today. What really matters the most for great future-proofing is the processor itself.
It's one of the reasons why iPhone 6s can still be used just fine today despite only having 2GB RAM compared to 3 or even 4 of its Android counterparts during its time.

The most stupidness design of this phone is the unnecessary battery kiling 4k display in such a small frame. Everybody wanting a handy 6 inch flagship 5g phone with good battery life. Now only 5ii and pixel 5 on the market..with hefty price tag. Iphone??2815mah battery???

Shanti Dope, 28 Oct 2020Not at all. The only time you'll have app reload is when you open more than 5 heavy games... moreI didn't mean editing a "single clip". Editing multiple clips with advanced effects surely takes a lot of RAM. My 6GB RAM phone gets stuck sometimes when I work with keyframe animation and green screen. 8GB Sony optimized phone maybe enough for now, but availability of more RAM will enable the developers to make more powerful editors ultimately. Besides, Sony users tend to keep their phones for longer than others. So this 12GB edition makes it more futureproof.

Tbh, imported phones nowadays are much better than locally-sold smartphones in retail stores in our regions.

Jack Frost, 28 Oct 2020Maybe for editing videos taken with Cinema Pro 🤔Not at all. The only time you'll have app reload is when you open more than 5 heavy games, more than 10 basic apps, and then shoot photos or videos with those apps still running.
Even so, only the heaviest of apps will reload, based on Phone Battles' testing on his YouTube channel.
Editing a video from Cinema Pro is a much lighter task than having the CPU to manipulate three sensors all at once.

Nick.B, 28 Oct 2020If one don't play heavy games he does not need 12 gigsYou really don't need to right now. A well-optimized 8GB RAM is far better than a heavily consumed 12GB RAM.

Oh yes! Another typical boring smartphone that's basically no different from a Samsung or iPhone with their stupid screen cutout.
