Seeing how much thinner P40/Mate 40 Pro are than Nokia 808 despite both having comparably massive sensors, I seriously doubt if the thickness of a camera bump would be anywhere close the figures you suggest even if manufacturers decided to put even larger 1 inch sensors on their phones.

A7sii, 29 Oct 2020Wrong! Can you type a full fledged email and attach files on a phone, or edit something while ... moreHe is sadly partially correct - in other countries (probably something like China or India) the cellphone is their device for everything - for work, to watch a movie etc.
It's one of the reasons why for example Samsung is making so many tablets with SIM functionality (Note something something Ultra).
Lucky for us, we are not forced to suffer and watch a movie on a tiny screen you hold in your hand, we do not have to suffer when we work on something more than just writing a document.

Can you type a full fledged email and attach files on a phone, or edit something while working on a word document. Maybe in about 10 years time what you say MIGHT happen. Phones have evolved..yes but not so much as to completely demolish laptops. Then also nobody wants to watch movies or videos on a 6 to 6.5 phone unless they are on the move. Most people prefer their laptop or tv..or tablet.

Cellphones are the reason why laptop market is not same it used to be last decade.
Many ppl today barely use anymore, because cellphone canndo many similar tasks.
You can watch movies, youtube video, play music, read/send email, etc ...
Cellphones are making ppl slowly stop buying compact cameras (1" or smaller sensors").

Its like saying if a person buys a modern SUV, the same person will never buy a 4x4 or a car. All three completely different things. A phone, however much advanced cannot touch a camera. Specially with the amount of settings. Same goes for music players! Sony is also not stupid, they advertise most of their products together, to show they are intended to a specific market.

Sony was able to get back on the track with new camera sensors (especially those new, bigger 12MPix), Xperia phones (Xperia 5 II) and compact cameras (ZV-1 and those newer more expensive ones) in 2020, let's hope the trend will continue.
I am quite curious how will the PS5 fair up against Xbox - I don't plan to ever buy them, but PS4 and Xbox One certainly bring a lot of interesting information regarding PR, direction and player preference.

Unlike Samsung, Apple, Huawei and other, Sony has many products that... morealso, BTW, high end flagship walkman would be NW-WM1Z which is at US$3200 (but it's gone down to US$2500 now) released late 2017, probably destined to be replaced in 2021 as it should follow andriod based os of nw-zx507 and nw-105 for streaming and local playback but at flagship audiophile grade.
