Honor play is carring a Hisilicon 970 flagship chipset from 2018, it's 2020.....still this device won't get the EMUI 10.0 update.
Co. said that "this device can't update due to hardware limitations" where as lower efficient processors are getting EMUI 10.0.....
It's 2 years old device, so nobody even cares for the UI update

Having Mate 20 Pro (2018 Oct) in the list is considering good. Don't expect more. Even Samsung Galaxy S series has the same treatment. One thing I must admit is the latest OS you have running has less bugs compare to Samsung phone. Samsung gave you update but full of other shitty bugs and they are not going to give you another update since the phone is 2 years old. I rather not update since the version before update was working perfectly fine.
This is my experience using Samsung. So far I didn't see any bugs on any update from Huawei. If have, I will not be the obvious one. They seldom give update but if update available then you have the stable one rather than a shitty version.
Don't compare to Apple iPhone as they are completely different OS structure. 6 years or 7 years, even they provide you new OS but your old CPU will have struggle due to latest apps are more demanding. I have iPad mini gen 2 and I have iOS up to 13 and that is it. I am so regret to upgrade to iOS12 as after iOS12, my iPad Mini lag like shit. Only 1 or 2 apps are allow to run in background compare to 5 years ago, it is able to hold as many as 4 or 5 apps. why? because latest iOS need more resources which is understood. So please don't expect to have latest iOS only 3-4 years old device. Even you have them, your device will simply suffer. then what is the point?
