Anonymous, 02 Nov 2020sure only in your dreamsIts foolish to deny the possibility. Clearly we have no idea what will actually come of it. As well as its easily possible that while they might catch it up it will takes years and maybe never gain a lead.
However you shouldn't so easily discredit the idea.
Not to mention some years back huawei was nothing but cheap low end devices.
They rose out of that with enormous potential and success. From nothing to a top dog.
Do even their history and current state suggests that within 3 to 5 years they could be producing some strong silicon.

JayrBars, 02 Nov 2020Come on guys read the comments properly before you type that kind of long commentI did. Did you? I can't find one article that Qualcomm announced anything SoC future related, have you?
Please, link the article?
Yee, 02 Nov 202045mn process? In 2020, that feels almost like using a dial-up modem for your internet connect... moreThe whole 45nm thing is most likely a smoke screen. Give them 2 years after kick off and see.
Unnecessary comments starts with no facts replies from fanboys.
Claiming a chip manufacture business decision based on rumors is the definition of foolish and fake news!
Start at the root, not from the branch.
All i understand from all this is that ww3 is right around the corner. And coming fast. Let me explain. First, Huawei is clearly not going to waste any time to get there chip fab up to standard. All these talk of 45nm node is IMO simply a smoke screen to throw the ignorant ones off the real plan and idea. Unfortunately the Americans are no idiot. I really don't see how all this ends peaceful except for 2 reasons. 1) The Americans change there mind and start dishing out licenses regardless of the purpose. 2) Huawei goes out of business but this is extremely unlikely considering what the conglomerate means to the Chinese government. Make no mistake, Huawei from the looks of things, is heavily rooted in the government and China will do everything in there power to make sure huawei survives this crisis. Am not against huawei in anyway. I just don't see all this ending amicably. But who knows.

First, Qualcomm has never OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED that it backs Huawei chip infrastructure moving foward. It has only been Huawei's claim only.
Second, Qualcomm cannot or any other company that distributes 5G chips could do business with Huawei. That kinda defeat the purpose of the embargo, right?
Third, only NONE 5G related BOMs suppliers can do business with Huawei, not just anyone that applies for a license.
e.g. Google has applied for an Android licence since mid-2019 and the US has basically told Google to forget it without stating it but only saying to Google, w"we haven't gotten around to it yet" just to shut up Google's lobbying for Huawei.
