Kristo Radion, 04 Nov 2020eh. now this Samsung wants to throw their garbage to the Chinese companies.Yes, I hope those China companies don't ever accept the shitty Exynos from Samsung, else they would really make no differences from them.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2020I would have agreed on the RAM but I had to pay more than double two years ago for 3200 cl16 w... moreThis is around the time Samsung, Hynix, and Micron teamed up to inflate the memory price.
Anyway, in the Smartphone market there are 3 brands we can't thrust, not because I don't like them or anything, but because of the bad, illegal, anti-consumer and outrageously unethical things they did multiple times, those are Samsung, Apple and Google.
Though Google didn't do that much harm with their phone themselves, with Android they did a lot.
I am not saying the other brands are perfect, but those 3 are the worse, and OnePlus is really close behind, they successfully gone from a loved to an hated brand in just two phone generation, their OnePlus 7 lineup was excellent but it started to get stupid expensive, but with the OnePlus 8 lineup, they pull the middle finger on customers and their community.
The Nord is an emergency attempt to fix what they did, but nope, a new phone won't fix bloatware and other forced apps.

Well that will be Xiaomi off my list then :-( I live in the UK and nearly all my Samsung handsets have been Exynos , Only a few have been Snapdragon.
I Don't see why a phone that is sold as the same handset should be given different spec in different areas.
Thankfully I am not looking at upgrading my crappy pixel just yet

Nice! now because of that i might avoid xiaomi because they will use a freaking chipset thats easy to thermal throttle within 15 minutes (S20 ultra, note 20 here in the Philippines), poor RAM management, poor camera management, and poor performance.

Snapdragon, Kirin, and Mediatek is the only that matters when it comes to smartphones to me, everything else is irrelevant.

Last ti... moreFor SSD, Samsung are good but expensive, there are better, for now, my target M.2 PCI-E SSD is the Corsair MP510, good, not too expensive and amazing lifetime, even with huge budget, I would take other SSD than Samsung.

But for RAM, the G.Skill Trident are the best with the Ryzen, mainly the F4-3600C14Q-32GTZNB (32GB) and F4-3600C14D-16GTZNB (16GB), and even with Intel they are great too, clearly if you have the budget, those are the RAM to go, this is for multiple reasons, 3600 is the sweetspot for Ryzen and as a non OC memory speed in general, the CAS 14 is quite nice, G.Skill in general, but Samsung memories are also a reason why those perform so well.

And yeah, maybe for things more complex like SoC they aren't that good, but the latest Exynos were bad because they rushed them to have a chip ready on type for their flagship, so obviously a lot was left to do, if you look at engineering samples they have the same issues, they can't run at higher clock without overheating, overclocking isn't everything and many optimisations make them slower at equal frequency than the final model, etc etc.
I am sure Samsung can do good complex chips if they make them well, the Snapdragon 875 will be their ultimate test for that.

A sad day for Oppo and Xiaomi, judging from how ineffective Exynos SoCs are as for now, comapred to SD competition.
