The thing is, there was a lot of drama around this, and still is, but reality is, most people just stick with some sort of wireless earphones these days (be it AirPods, their clones or just some other brand as there are tons of them now). Sure, having an option for analog connection is sometimes useful and appreciated, but I found myself that missing that port doesn't affect me much. It didn't even before as I'm one of those dying dinosaurs who listened to MP3's on trips using a dedicated MP3 player even just few years ago despite having a capable phone in my pocket. And I still have my old Creative Zen 8GB in all its miniUSB charging glory :D I have an iPhone and I never use AirPods 2 on it. I only use AirPods on my Windows PC and Windows laptops. Because I like the way AirPods sound and the way they are shaped (I hate silicone tipped in-ear earphones). I actually like the wireless experience. The amount of times someone walked through my earphones wires as I was watching stuff on my laptop in a living room. It just doesn't happen anymore. At all. Ever. It's a future we never really particularly asked for, but it happened and we all sort of moved on with it.
