Macbook air is fanless, you know.
Imagine the power with a macbook pro with a fan. Like it at least has to be over 8000.

Don't tea... moreSorry i have to disagree. MacOS wins Windows in my opinion. Windows is for children.. those kids with gaming only, and those workers who are stuck in the 1990s, with the legacy microsoft office suites. MacOS is for serious work, programmers (Can install ALL kinds of IDE), network managers (Can interface with linux / windows with ease natively, support all standard VPNs). Finding software in Mac is easier and safer as well, windows have tons of shady software malware and not to forget scammers.
Office is the only reason, MacOS users even boots up window VM, because to share with those legacy Windows PC users, and those old and discarded software.
Now with the MacOS and M1, Windows will have to wake up and add 64bit x86 support to their ARM Windows, Intel or even AMD's chip cannot compete on par with watt per performance with M1. (But Microsoft is tied down by intel)
Future will be qualcomm vs apple in desktop chips.

Seriously? Like can't you really come up with a single reason why some people prefer to use Macs over Windows machines (apart from stupid ones like "coz there iSheeeps")? And to be frank, for many of those people using/going back to Windows would be actually a "downgrade".

Jobs, 11 Nov 2020The camera of my macbook pro 2017 broke down after 2,5 years and they asked me 800$ to replace... moreDunno what happened with your mac, but I had a macbook air from 2012 that still runs smoothly ( while browsing and light gaming ). That thing fell from my bed 5 times, all the four corners are dented, the back panel near the vent has popped out a little, and the gap between the screen and chassis is huge now. Last month, the magnet holding the screen stopped working and it no longer closes shut, but still works.
Jobs, 11 Nov 2020The camera of my macbook pro 2017 broke down after 2,5 years and they asked me 800$ to replace... moreI feel you. Macbook Pro's display, especially those from 2015 onwards those ultra thin design, and with the thunderbolt 2. Is very very hard to change the display components, trying to remove the display to get to the camera will result in the display LED itself cracking. No sane repairman unless the most skilled and with tools can attempt such a rep. Most will just close one eye, make sure you are not looking, and replace the entire display module or scrap the display led and replace that as well. Its easy to fine third party fake display, subpar and thicker. I seen those, nothing beats the factory default.

I wonder what would be the battery life when the

My macbook pro 2017 battery is drained in +/- 2 hours when i use zoom, hangout, team or similar video conf app.

Almand, 11 Nov 2020Its intentional. Now you can compare identical two macs with just the chipset changed and see ... moregood point.
Best battery life with worst possible camera. also the lack of thunderbolt 4, only 2 ports, possible thermal throttling issues in fanless design. in summary, it is not very wise to buy a first generation product from apple.

Almand, 11 Nov 2020Its intentional. Now you can compare identical two macs with just the chipset changed and see ... moreYes, might be. I think cost saving is also one of the reasons. The base architecture of SOC is not very different from A12Z. Since 11 inch iPad pro can house the A12Z with enough thermal dissipation, it should have been easy to develop a smaller chassis around M1.
I was expecting Apple to introduce a dual CPU system at least on the pro, Air was anyways stuck on low power intels even before. We might now get one in the future 16 inch pro.
