This is the the intention of forbidding the us companies trading with hiawei maybe. Instead of making their own cpu huawei will be forced to buy qualcomm cpu's.
Win for usa and also for the peopole who dont like the in-house kirin cpu's.
Misfit2Fields, 14 Nov 2020Come on, google. Now it's your turn. I am so happy that the usa knows they need Huawei
Who needs Qualcomm when there is perfect Huawei Kirin chips. US is out of h8gj tech race, it's a fact.
Rareart1, 14 Nov 2020 This is actually bad news.this is great news, it means huawei can create flagships
TEtech, 14 Nov 20201. Sp875>kirin9000 2. They are testing 6g but 5g was also tested in 2012, 6g has a few yea... morestill, its way better than before I think. Its great to have a competition, may be better one day like their sfs memory. The same for OS, there is no alt to ios or android which are both us based... so I hope they will use kirin too.
Huawei's 5G telecommunications has surpass the west therefore it was banned by the west. It is currently in the process of developing 6G and the west hasn't even begin. When you can't beat them ban them.
Nova, 14 Nov 2020I don't think this will change anything in terms of smartphone share huawei is a gonerThey will still be massive in China but wont recover the western market sales until they get full Google apps support once again. The average buyer wont mess around with the installation hacks to get them and will only know what there out of the box. Shame as they make really good devices.
I still hope and believes Huawei will go on its own.
Own chips Own OS own many else.
They really dont need to rely on any and all american corporations, companies and government.
TEtech, 14 Nov 2020Google isn't the entire Internet, I have the p40 pro and I had not a single problem with ... moreNo Netflix.
No games or apps that rely on Google Play services.
No Google pay and major banking apps.
that will be only mid ranges as new phones from 2021 will be manuf-ed with 5g as standard
A lot of peoples are talking about 5G here, well, the Snapdragon 865 didn't had any built in modem, and it could have been great as 5G isn't necessary yet, so many phones could have had both 5G and 4G variant, there are many countries that won't have 5G for multiple years, and places in countries that already have 5G that won't have coverage for years, in fact, in all countries, AFAIK, there is absolutely no goal for 100% 5G coverage, as 5G isn't even for mobile but for allowing fast communications between smart devices, such as self driving cars for exemple and other Internet Of Things and was never intended for mobile in the first place, which by the way, with a good 4G signal already have more than the necessary bandwidth for the vast majority of users.
But Qualcomm force everyone that wanted to buy their 865 and 765 to also buy their X55 LTE & 5G enabled external modem with it, forcing all brands using the Snapdragon chipset to make 5G mandatory and other brands to align with it.
And considering that all the 5G modem and antennas are more expensive and take space, blame Qualcomm for that !
On the other hand, some, like Samsung, with their stupid FORCED Exynos (I am not against the Exynos, only against the mandatory Exynos for SOME markets), if they made two distinct variant with one having the SD865(+) for their latest flagship (rather than just making a SD one for the US just because they couldn't sold it there without it) that took advantages of it all and an Exynos that justified its existence by some uniques things they could have added to it, they could have allowed multiple features they don't currently support, like the SD865 :
*Bluetooth 5.1 over the 5.0 (I know, not a big update).
*Dual band for most of the sat-nav (which "apparently" it supported since the Note10 but have crappy accuracy anyway) with SBASs supports.
*Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ (which would make things more practicals).
Or even better with the SD865+ that would have allowed :
*Bluetooth 5.2 (which is a serious update, improving audio on multiple regards including on battery consumption, for a phone that have no 3.5mm Jack and a small battery, why isn't it a thing ?).
*Still Dual Band sat-nav, no changes here from the SD865.
*Quick Charge 5.
*Wi-Fi 6E which is a MASSIVE improvement from regular Wi-Fi 6.
So it goes both ways, Qualcomm do some bad things that bend the market in undesirable directions while others could make efforts to get common standard with them but don't want to.
5G is just the tip of the iceberg here, but lets say it caused a mess.
