Oh well Mediatek can supply 5G so I fail to see why US govt handicap Qualcomm here.
Hopefully the BS the U.S has done to huawei will finally go away and huawei will be able to produce it's own kirin chips again.
NotAnOpinion, 14 Nov 2020Ah-yes! Oh... Oh... Oh... But, where's that "Huawei will receive QC 5G SoCs?!" ... moreI can imagine you jumping from excitement after writing this comment. 😅
NotAnOpinion, 14 Nov 2020And using outdated 4G, NOW, really slows down innovation. So, it makes zero sense for Huaw... moreOutdated 5G... interesting. What can you do on 5GNR that you couldn't on LTE-A? Deplete your whole data allowance in a matter of seconds? Play with a VR headset while crossing the street? Upload a live feed of yourself 24/7?
Anonymous, 14 Nov 2020And? SD875 is only the flagship, what about mid-rangers, etc? All the rest series come with an... moreHuawei is a major OEM. If they need a specific chip, I'm sure Qualcomm will gladly provide it. It could also be a simple matter of disabling permanently the 5G hardware.
LordAlzain, 14 Nov 2020This proves the point that the whole Huawei thing is nothing about security but the US fearing... moreWRONG, this shows that cellphones have never been the scooe of the whole affair, as all ccp-china-huawei fanboys keep crying about, in reality, this ban has been implemented to stop china from taking control via huawei of the 5g and beyond, and not exactly with puny cellphones, no, the really important thing is the INFRASTRUCTURE of the whole telecom systems, but all naive/blind/ignorant sheep do not, or can not grasp this
NotAnOpinion, 14 Nov 2020And using outdated 4G, NOW, really slows down innovation. So, it makes zero sense for Huaw... moreThe snapdragon 875 doesn't have a built in 5g modem so they may possibly be able to use their own 5g modem with it. Could be a potential option as the company has very few options. They've already had to sell honor because of the chip situation
Anonymous, 14 Nov 2020And? SD875 is only the flagship, what about mid-rangers, etc? All the rest series come with an... moreMediate, they are already using mediatek chipsets for some of their mid range phones
NotAnOpinion, 14 Nov 2020Ah-yes! Oh... Oh... Oh... But, where's that "Huawei will receive QC 5G SoCs?!" ... moreplease tell me more about how a phone that is not sold in US can spy in US no matter its hardware and how you can spy only with 5g but not with 4g? your statement makes absolutely no sense
Hopefully Huawei declines and instead makes their own chips.
TEtech, 14 Nov 2020Sd875 is not a 5g chip, it needs a 5g modem to go with it and huawei can provide itAnd? SD875 is only the flagship, what about mid-rangers, etc? All the rest series come with an integrated modem. So Huawei will ignore all them.
Huawei did have entry level phones with Snapdragon 400-series. Seeing that 5G has yet to filter down to entry level segment, I don't see why Huawei couldn't resume the practice if they wanted to. Also, Huawei does make different network versions of their tablets (Wifi only, 4G, 5G). The Snapdragons could end up there, too, if they wanted.
Anonymous, 14 Nov 2020Huawei isn’t going to use Qualcomm’s chips unless they have 5G.Well, Huawei won't be using QC at all then because 5G is off the table. PERIOD!
NotAnOpinion, 14 Nov 2020And using outdated 4G, NOW, really slows down innovation. So, it makes zero sense for Huaw... moreThat is of course IF they use 4G Qualcomm chips
Huawei isn’t going to use Qualcomm’s chips unless they have 5G.
And using outdated 4G, NOW, really slows down innovation.
So, it makes zero sense for Huawei to revert back to 4G smartphones when 2019 and 2020 they used all 5G SoCs.
I see Huawei only using these chips perhaps in its AIoT or similar products. Not in their flagship phones.
But, hey, Huawei might be so desperate, they'll try any SoC just to stay relevant to see what happens in the future.
It has begun.
Huawei is pedaling backwards.
AnonD-641645, 14 Nov 2020"National security" be damned? lolCos only 5G can be use to spy, 4G can't 🙄
LordAlzain, 14 Nov 2020This proves the point that the whole Huawei thing is nothing about security but the US fearing... moreExactly, plus the fact that huawei is making the vest flagships also is frightening the us
Ah-yes! Oh... Oh... Oh... But, where's that "Huawei will receive QC 5G SoCs?!"
Bahahaha!
Told you fanboys. As long as it's not 5G related, licenses will be considered.
But, not / NEVER 5G or future 6G related and it doesn't matter who's in the WH.
This is a congress controlled regulation now and all parties are bipartisan to the threat of China's security, IP theft, etc. practices.
vrvly, 14 Nov 2020lol downgraded chips and to wait for another ban? it might be interesting second option though... more1. Sp875>kirin9000
2. They are testing 6g but 5g was also tested in 2012, 6g has a few years till it comes out
