Producing multiple phones that are quite similar isn't very cost efficient and the company will focus on foldables as their future flagship. Things right now are virtually the same between the Note and S line, so it makes financial sense to combine the two with the flagship focus shifting to foldables.

10Plus, 18 Nov 2020Crap!?!?! they are not stupid enough to use the same screen for the next z fold 3But man yes they do. Jerryrigeverything aka Zac Nelson proven that with Fold 2.
So the fold 3 will be same useless obsolette overpriced gimmick as its precedessors.

You're just talking for the sake of t... moreNote was introduced to offer the big screen experience that S-series of pre 2014 couldn't offer. Since the introduction of non conventional aspect ratio displays, the S series virtually became similar to Note series, with the exception of S-pen. Now that Fold series have somewhat proved its mettle, there is no point in continuing two similar flagship lines with the difference of that one feature. Does this make sense now?

I think everybody else, including Xiaomi should abandon the Note name. Earlier it made sense. You'd have a small phone, 5-inches or less (16:9) and you'd have a bigger Note variant. Right now there's no difference between the a Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, Redmi 9C, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9 Note, Redmi 9 Note Pro, Redmi 9 Note S, Redmi 9 Note S Prime Pro Max Ultra Plus in terms of size. It's highly annoying. I can't exactly say good riddance. Because what has happened is small phones have gone extinct. But any Note these days is meaningless.
