Anonymous, 19 Nov 2020For their own phones, at least the old ones. You mean the so called 'G-Lens' on older Xperia? Blearghhh...experienced a lot of them...corner softness, blooming highlights area, soft images (Sony has to add excessive software sharpness back then, in order to cover it). I think Sony might be use 3rd party company to manufacture it back then, and slap the 'G-Lens' brand.

At least the Leica certified Sunny lens are way way better quality than it, since P9.

YUKI93, 19 Nov 2020I doubt if this can happen. I may not be a fan of Huawei's software processing algorithms... moreBy that you mean nothing special? Pretty much samsung with huaway stample, sometimes nokia or apple. Depends on who has a better design in that year.... Yeah, pretty crazy.

I doubt if this can happen. I may not be a fan of Huawei's software processing algorithms, but the hardware is beyond crazy.

...remember when a leakster also said that Huawei might soon sell its Honor line? Huawei replied that is was also fake and definitely not true. Then it happened.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2020Samsung and Apple get from another, not this one. Name starts with L. Largan Precision only used in iphone main sensor, the other sensors are likely from Sunny. The same goes to Samsung, but with different lens supplier on the main sensor.

Largan also the 1st lens that has 9P freeform lens used in Mate 40 Pro+ UWA, which designed & researched by Huawei itself.

But keep in mind that optical design, imaging quality, image data processing, optimization and the mechanical construction of the camera module to the graphic user interface are highly Leica involved in order to be certified by them, as a custom-made lens for Huawei. Not just an out-of-factory module that used in other brand mentioned.

Huawei and Leica are like Body and arms and legs.
Without those arms and legs body is useless so there is no need for such bad movement.

Wily2020, 18 Nov 2020Wouldn't really be surprising if it happens, why would Leica want to keep doing business ... moreMost of huawei sales already are in China, at least 70%.
Leica would not lose much money they earn with naming rights on camera bump.

And yes, they do not supply lenses. The lenses are chinese.

Kek, 18 Nov 2020It would be really interesting if this happened. And it surprises me that both Samsung &am... moreBecause Samsung was a camera maker until few years ago.
Their APSC was the best of its time.
Far ahead of what Canon, Nikon and Sony had to offer.

They just have zero interest in using that knowledge.
Nor even integration with thier other divisions.
