SpiritWolf, 22 Nov 2020Who cares? Even 845 has more power than 99% of people will ever use. 875+ for social media? Heh. True ... Im downgrade from 845 to midrange mediatek phone ... And to my surprised, it perform almost the same ... Yet, I gaining more on battery life ...

It good enough for everyday use for watching, scrolling, browsing . . . . And mediatek soc is almost as good as Qualcomm nowadays.. maybe even better than exynos midrange soc.

Of course....Mediatek chips have been caught benchmark cheating this year.

Not to mention they throttle in performance quickly. Redmi K30 Ultra using Dimensity chip had similar Antutu score (around 600k) to Realme X50 Pro with SD865. But the Realme didn't throttle and drop scores. The K30 Ultra drops to 440k.

Meh. Synthetic benchmarks are one thing. I'll hold my reservations until I see the performance on an everyday basis.

While the upgrade in the performance of mediatek is great, and I have experienced this in my own hands, the issue is whether this will drive mtk based handsets up in price. I fear any phone housing this chip will likely be close to 500 euros if not higher

AnonD-940827, 22 Nov 2020Why would you wish for oneplus to be low end? What ?
Current flagship/most powerful chip becoming low end because a new one get release ?
Dude !
The Buggati Veyron didn't became a slow or underpowered or budget car because the Bugatty Chiron got released...

The SD845 is more than powerful enough for most peoples, even those who do games.
Games AREN'T made only for flagship phones, they are also made for phones with middle-range SoC like the SD765 and less powerful one, because a lot of peoples had that.
Imagine if an RTX 2080Ti was REQUIRED for the latest game to run, this game wouldn't sell well...

As long as other part than the raw power are upgraded, such as power efficiency, latest standard support, latest/efficient instruction for media encoding and decoding, powerful AI and all that, the fact it is equivalent to a SD865 is more than good enough, mainly for the price, give me that over a SD875 like anyday if it is like that and allow cheap pseudo flagship killers.

In the OnePlus 8's review, it scored 919 in single core and 3399 in multi core in GeekBench 5, they aren't that close in the end.
