Feef, 26 Nov 2020It's a great move by our country as it will be beneficial for non Chinese brands. Nowaday... moreThen why is government forcing us?
The risk of data privacy (if at all there is any "risk") should left on the user. Tell everyone that the apps steal data and leave it to people if they want to risk their data or not? What's the purpose of banning?
After all, this is democracy, right? The "best" form of government, where citizen gets most of the "rights". So, why let us choose what is good for us and what isn't?

Apple trying to double dip benefits by taking concessions by opening assembly units, and instead of reducing prices, they have both increased the prices, import it from China without having to pay customs duties(in the name of having assembly units for older versions, just a smoke screen). This is Government in India is not like earlier foreign led person to sell the country through corruption.

ShrillyChinese, 26 Nov 2020What were the Chinese companies that didn't steal designs and technology by coercing US a... moreEver heard of "Mahindra & Mahindra"? The largest "independent Indian" automobile manufacturer?
Each and every design they have produced till now is "exact" same copy of some Jeep model. Each and every. Their most hyped car, Thar costs one fourth of Jeep Wrangler and is its exact copy. Their initial models of Marshal, Commander, etc. all were copies of Jeep Willys, and other models.

Although Jeep never filed any copyright infringement (cause it takes years to settle the dispute), probably because India is not a market for Jeep. But, when M&M expanded to US, they met a case filed by Jeep. And you know what that "Indian" brand designed? "Roxor". Google it. The most ugliest car you would have ever seen.

So, don't thump your chest if you don't know how many designs Indians steal. The largest Indian automaker is built on the stone of plagiarism.
And yeah, Micromax, once, the "largest" Indian smartphone manufacturer, kept rebranding those who "copy" the rest of the world.

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2020Communism isn't dictatorshipI know. But some RW nationalists keep thumping their chests over democracy. I don't know who fooled them or they are fooling everyone by saying "democracy is best". I just tried to reply them in their own language.

A country wants to create something so that they would be "less" dependent on another country which could pose a threat in a long run... How would one do that??... By making it difficult to do what companies are doing right now and make them look for new answers...

Fact is China is pretty big, powerful when it comes to manufacturing... But that doesn't mean no other country shouldn't even try...

Manufacturing in India is a must. In long term it will be beneficial. But only large companies can do that, it'll be difficult for small companies. Also, there's an insane amount of dirty politics in India, so setting up a manufacturing hub isn't as easy as one may think as companies may not prefer to bribe off every hurdle they come across.
