Assuming two sensors have an identical MP count, a Quad Bayer sensor always has much faster scan speed than a regular Bayer sensor simply due to how pixels are read out from the sensor. In fact, that's the one of the main reasons why high resolution sensors found on modern mobile phone cameras use QB filter.
And just in case you're concerned about RYYB filter getting involved here - no, it's nothing to do with the sensor's read-out process. It only changes the way light is taken into the sensor.

A9ii is way much faster than 1ii. The current #1 amo... moreEveryone in photography world knows that AF on a9ii are the fastest currently. Stop repeat the same statement. Youre not wrong about it.
But again, the tech between them are two different entity. Different approach to achieve same goal. Plus, this is a smartphone camera. Maybe what they mean are the closer to what your eyes can focus between smartphone camera AF only, not the entire camera world.
I remember seeing a review of this technology good couple years ago. Totally forgot that it existed

Why not wait for full release & reviews?
Have an open mind.
Shui8, 27 Nov 2020U know that traditional AF in a9ii & liquid lens are two different entity right?

A9ii is way much faster than 1ii. The current #1 among phones.
All this despite imx310 being about 20x larger than imx557 and 2x resolution.
Lens alone does not turn average AF into class leading.
It is all combination of hardware + software.
Cellphone lenses are extremely poor compared to real lenses.
AF speed increses with readout speed, reason A9 series is the #1 among mirrorless and even beat dslr that has dedicated AF sensor.
Let's remember, non-bayer sensors are much slower to read than bayer.
Impossible to match capabilities of healthy eyes.
[deleted post]try look further than the end of your nose...nearly all brands are guilty in part to playing with the realistic truth of their products ..not just China. This extends to most things we buy e.g. cars, health products etc so we are surrounded by "lies" of varying degrees"

Wait for the final results before making accusation.
That's some sci fi s*** right there.
😯
Wow, how the world has evolved… Just compare this to any camera phone from 15 years ago… Or even stand-alone point-and-shoot cameras from that period!
Yeah, nice.
But what about no punch hole/notch/underdisplay camera and flat display for once ?
Huawei patented it way before Mate 20 released. Almost put the tech on Mate 40 series (because of the ban, need to fasten up).
9P freeform lens on UWA + Liquid lens on telephoto + all pixel omnidirectional PDAF on main lens = Point & Shoot camera goodies.
Please put it in Pro version this time, not only Pro+ where units are so limited.
Interesting innovation. First, the free form lens that reduces distortion. Now, the liquid lens for stabilization and super fast focus. Wow. Amazing. I wonder if the P50 Pro would have it. So, maybe it would ditch the need for OIS. and i wonder if it can focus in near darkneess where there is no detail. Since most focus systems tracks detail, light for focus. While some uses Infared and lasers to measure distance, but those implementations don't work at long distance. Very interesting to see. Gotta be worth to upgrade from the P20 Pro. Since most periscope telephotos struggle in autofocus and stabilization due to their long focal length, small sensor, and lack of light in capture.
Liquid lens sounds amazing.
