But the next Snapdragon flagship is coming, and I feel like Mediatek is late again, like last year with the Dimensity 1000 beating the SD 855.
Anyway, these Dimensity chips are very good value for money and have amazing performance and seems to run quite cool, if Mediatek force Qualcomm to reduce their prices with the competition, it's all good.

The biggest probably with Mediatek chips has been longevity. They should fix that

I think this will be a suitable mid tier SoC.

I'm perplexed to see chip fanboy rooting against his own pocket

Lol remember when dimensity 1000+ was been hyped that has higher benchmark number compared to snapdragon 855+? But where are they now? And turn out that they don't even beat antutu benchmark of snapdragon 855 (yes, not even beat non-plus version) after been implanted in real phones. And and the funny thing is almost every phone company still prefer to use snapdaragon chipsets even after being told "dImEnSiTy Has HiGhEr BeNcHmArK vALuE" and "DiMeNsItY iS cHeApEr"

Funny thing is that these are not flagship processor of mediatek and samsung. 63% performance upgrade between 765g and 775g is due to mediatek dimensity 820 processor. Finally we get some competitive processor.

pritkudale, 30 Nov 2020It edges out by small margin. And snapdragon is about to come to market very soon. So mediatek... moreThis won't be Mediatek's flagship, this one uses 6nm, it's supermid...there will be a 5nm soc, process was reserved.

More than enough powerfull in my opinion, if AV1 support is there (like on Dimensity 1000 serie), it's ok for me...
Features are more important than benchmarks.
Even GPU will be more than 2,5x more powerfull than a SD765...
More than enough to handle fullhd screen...

Qualcomm is late on AV1, 5G carrier aggregation (this will come faster than mmwave, and won't be stop by a row of trees!), 5g dualsim.
Qualcomm's midrange can't handle properly cameras over 32MP (no zero Shutter Delay, no multiframe noise reduction)

Gap is too huge between 765G and 865...
If you compare to PC's GPU,
                              SD865 is high end.
                              GFX 3090 is high end...
The gap between 865 and 765G is not only bigger than the one between 3090 and 3080, but it is still far bigger than the one between 3090 and 3070...

With Mediatek you will get the missing link

Incredible Kirin 9000, it really outperformed the SD865. It's just that now Hisilicon is finished off by USA. May he die in peace. Or maybe rise from the grave someday. I've seen teaser Exynoss 1080 on youtube. That's a cool video. In my opinion, right now Samsung is really in the lead.
