"The ISOCELL 600MP sensor, however, won't be coming soon because Samsung has to solve the issue with the camera bump first." To be brutally honest, I don't care about camera bump. The Nokia 808 PureView and also the Nokia Lumia 1020 proved that hardware physics is still relevant.

That said, 600MP sensor with 0.8µm pixel size? I wonder how many levels of pixel binning would be involved. Also, is it even possible to do a Bayer modifications for 12MP? Because if it's involving direct Bayer modifications like Nonacell or Tetracell, it wouldn't be able to get a perfect 12MP resolution unlike ISOCELL 108MP and 48MP sensor.

Peter, 05 Dec 2020No, no, Samsung is preparing 600mp sensor for automotive industry. They never said it will be ... moreAnd the reading fur the presentation to be showing it used in a Phone?

One might propose such a sensr automotive, and somebody else says let's figure out how it would fit in a camera, and such a presentation might be done, and that's the end of it, or they might figure out a way to do it. Things don't just fit in one category in our minds.

You have to ask, a good liquid lens focal module (Samsung has an early patent did a larger format liquid lens solution, which is a lot thinner than optical) would be a lot smaller than that when using an smaller 8k chip. Using a vertical color filtering scheme, which Foveon X3 used on Sigma cameras, was only an early example of, would give the 8k chip good colour rendition too, removing one of the other benefits of proposed 32k chips. The other things is VR/car 180 degree+, which the 600mp would still be good for. Such big chips can also be used for holographic post focusing shooting.

But, having proposed new thin lens technology myself, I have to ask, couldn't they make this module a lot thinner, without making it popup (which somebody is bound to suggest)? The American military now have control of a flat light fold back lens as well. Which, without zoom, and using light ray bundling, might be suitable. Such a lens might even adapt from a lens area closer to Vmax 15 perf film size, but that is speculative, and too easy to smudge.

Mukhammadyunus, 06 Dec 2020But iPhones 12MP camera can compete with the 600MP camera 🤣🤣🤣Until you start cropping, hey, where all those details disappear? 😂

Oppaii, 06 Dec 2020Will that even result to a major change in the details of the photos hmmm? When 48mp sensor... moreOverall yes, 12 mp is the norm, but compared to the higher resolution sensors there is no competition.
Many people have forgotten how big the difference can be.
I remember when i upgraded from s5 to s7 edge, i was very disappointed with the s7 edge, better dynamic range but the colors were overstated, and the details were abysmal compared to the z5 true to life rendition and much more resolution to work with.
Also we have the same opinions about display resolution, recently I've found my lg g5. And man that qhd 5.5 display demolishes my p30 pro. No visible pixels whatsoever.
So yes, 600mp is a little bit to much, but atleast the competition is heating up again. If implemented good than its gonna be killer of a camera.

It still takes decent pics, but the recent 64mp does take better details when you zoom in but thats about it.

I don't see that significant difference at least in mid ranger territory.

I wish mid ranger to get better nightmode.

When 48mp sensors was announced I was hyped thinking it would bring us revolutionary details but even 12mp iPhones can take much better photos.

Imagine if it was 1/0.57" sensor with only just 12mp. It will be a total revolutionary in smartphone lowlight photography then.

Remember bro, don't just huy an phone or get attracted just because of its cameras or one features. Sure it is nice to have an super camera. But, an camera is just an part of an phone. And will you take so many photos all the day and needing to crop super heavily, zoom 100x, shoot night mode, backlight, pitch black? They are just something to rely on. Never buy an phone because it has the best cameras but falls short on other areas. The example is, Huawei phones. The mate 40 Pro+ and P40 Pro+ aren't worth it, they are just the same phone with better cameras, but costs $200 - $300 more while just adding ceramic to the back.

A sincere note to anyone crying their heart out in this discussion: Remember that GMSarena is a tiny bubble of a few people which have already ranted enough about iPhones ditching 3.5mm jack, display notches, punch-hole front cameras, sub-standard iPhone battery capacities, missing iPhone chargers, . Rest assured that you are not alone in the world. Just stick your head out of the door and you will see a merry bunch of people. You may not approve their tech buying choices, but with some effort, you might make them a bit more educated tech shoppers. In exchange, the less lucky (no, not necessarily - read the last wotd "rich") of them could teach you something about real world issues. ;)
(all in all, I am with you - placing a phone on the back of another, bigger phone seems a ridiculous idea. But don't forget that we live in ridiculous times :P )
