These things are so easy to do on any android phone even by a third party app that people so ignorantly install by downloading APKs off of the internet. Stick to the official store. At least that would reduce the number of malware you install on your Phone.

Only buy phones that are released locally in your country.
For example, if you're buying a Xiaomi then don't buy the China version but buy the version that is made for your country/region. Otherwise install the official global ROM manually.
Anyway, it's good that those people involved are getting prison time.

So what's the use of such fines? Users data and privacy are anyways compromised, is the government or court going to get back those details to the rightful users with those fines? What is the benefit yo users that were impacted?
