Shiny Dave, 06 Dec 2020What gets me is that they literally made $2.9m profit from this for over 20m phones. That'... moreSorry to burst your bubble, but you pay more for Samsung but still getting ads in the OneUI. Just google it if you don't believe.

Rivals tactics can't compete quality at average cost. The obvious reason is Chinese low cost daily wages labour & subsidized raw material. And if rivals enforce another season of high prices upon average customers again, how long will it last? Sooner or later, the average customers will expose such tactics again.

Anonymous, 06 Dec 2020This is what comes to my mind when people praise Xiaomi all the time. Xiaomi makes great ph... moreYou should be looking at why some phones are more expensive due to overpricing instead. To give one example is the Iphone 12 Pro's cost of hardware per phone is only around $406 for selling price of $999. That's $593 or more than 100% profit there. Sure, you can argue software need money too but don't forget most companies earn money back easily through subscriptions and purchases from apps stores like App Store and Galaxy Store.

I always find it funny people blame companies like Xiaomi for coming out with cheaper phones rather than companies like Samsung that keep increasing their prices. As if these people think $1400 S20 Ultra is worth it while $800 Mi 10 Pro (that has the same specs) isn't worth it because they suspect some shenanigans by Xiaomi. News flash: Samsung and Apple charging more because you are basically paying more for the brand. The cost of hardware for each phone are largely the same.

Lastly, Xiaomi phones have ads? Well, you need to wake up because Samsung is also baking ads into OneUI and Apple will follow soon.

Solution: do not buy a smartphone

LOL, u people never cease to amaze me in badmouthing Chinese smartphones.
If not for Xiaomi, nowadays people will still pay 350$ for SD4xx-powered smartphones!
The ads in Xiaomi is non-existent if u set ur phone to ANY European nations, OR just spend 5mins to xplore the 'settings' to turn-off the ads!

You people r the reason why companies like Apple are getting away with their exorbitant pricing policy, because u people mind always stereotyped 'Chinese phones = cheap = ads-invested = malware-rich junk'

I used to live in the Philippines and saw Gionee being sold all the time. I lived right next to SM North Mall and Gionee phones would be on the 4th floor of the Annex building. Gionee also manufactures BLU phones.

I DON'T TRUST ANY BIG TECH COMPANIES. I used to love Google but they're part of the stealing of this 2020 US Election. They all will censor us. Big tech, Democrats, and China's malware known as COVID-19 are all in together to get rid of Trump. I'm forced to use Google due to their services and OS but I don't love them anymore.

What about realme phones, just bought one and have to scour and dig through the settings to turn a lot of things off which look like they are taking all the info from the phone. Never seen a phone with so much bloat and settings which have to be turned off. Also a lot of bloat rubbish apps which cannot be uninstalled.

They sold 20 million units? That's quite a lot for a small company, although the Chinese market is huge.
