[deleted post]LOL PLEASE. Have you seen the Hugh Jefferys video on the Iphone 12 its unrepairable. Apple blocked 3rd party repairs. So much for "saving the environment"

Everyone seems to forget that there are many different ways to handle a smartphone, and some would be totally immune to accidental touch (either never touching the edge or having the touch rejection working almost flawlessly) but the others will basically be constantly triggering it.
Here is 6 different way to hold the phone :

And there are many more, the same goes for everything, even a computer mouse that we would expect everyone to use it the same way, do have differences, between the middle finger in the wheel or in the right click button for example, and it doesn't even cover the different hand position, the bad wrist resting and all that, but smartphone have a lot too.
And outside the right/left-handed and ambidextrous, you'll find many variations, from the dreaded pinky killer, to strap on the back, wrist-strap, or even Death Note's L.
Some even have the "Old-Hand" way, but balanced on the tip of their fingers on the back.

I'll report my message and answer to the right person this time xD

YUKI93, 09 Dec 2020"It doesn't say whether you can swap components between the same phone model."
... moreNo. I am talking about the SAME model & variant.
For example, a Mate 40 Pro 8/64GB & a Mate 40 Pro 8/64GB.
I'm just saying iFixit rating is complete BS.
They don't do any details analysis - just unglue & unscrew then made up the number.

You don't have to read the whole article to know that it won't be possible. Even the spec sheet can tell a similar story ( https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10528&idPhone2=10553&idPhone3=10550#diff- ) as they don't share the same dimension between the variants.
You're just being too optimistic. If you want a phone that can swap components, your only choice is the Fairphone and that's it: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Fairphone+3+Teardown/125573
Still, could be worse. It could be the Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung+Galaxy+Note+20+and+Note+20+Ultra+Teardown/136102

It doesn't say whether you can swap components between the same phone model.
All they did was apply some heat & undo some screws, wave their hands in the air & then magic out some number out of 10.
Those clowns at iFixit don't know what they are doing.

I think curved or flat screens is just a matter of preference. I like curved screens. Makes gestures more fluid and looks futuristic.

The only exception would be something like the Mi Mix Alpha that allow to get rid of the useless font camera.
And I mean 2D flat, not those useless 2.5D, because being better at registering touches also mean being better at registering accidental/undesired touches, hence why many prefer bezel rather than over the top (literally) more-than-full display.
Curved display is a reason why I didn't buy certain phones, such as the Vivo Nex 3(s), and a lot of other people feel the same.
So ideally the best solution is still to make multiple sub-variants, including curved and flat display ones.
Curved screens are good for gestures. Swiping from sides and top and bottom means no friction on your finger from the edge of the screen. Notice that Huawei phones are curved on all 4 edges?
TEtech, 08 Dec 2020Phones with curved screens look more "futuristic" and thus easier to market to the a... moreStill it wouldn't be hard to make both a flat and curved edge variant of the same phone.
Honestly, every time I go shopping and I get in front of the Galaxy S10, I find those curved edge quite ugly and boring, same in picture, it looks fragile, and it is fragile.
Between sun glare, image distortion, accidental touches and awkwardness to hold the phone for many, on top of being more exposed and costing more, those who want them should still have them, but certainly not against the will of the majority of the smartphone enthusiast community.
It is like holes and notches, they should be still available, but certainly not on the majority of phones, in fact they shouldn't even be the "norm", good old bezel should, only idiots consider that something outside the display is bothering while finding a chunk of the display removed normal/acceptable, like what ¿?
The hole is only there because of the notch, which is only there because of Apple trying to fix something that was totally fine, and the 3.5mm Jack would agree that it isn't the only time they messed up the whole smartphone market...
Seriously, who really find the bezel of the Meizu 16 or of the Nubia Play/Red Magic more intrusive than a missing chunk of the display ? How does that even make senses ?
curved displays are honestly just for marketing gimmicks, its very impractical.

i really miss flat edge screen in flagships. It is hard to typing in curve screen.
Some chat and textnote application start the type in the very edge of the screen.
Also it is not comfort typing the first letter in this GSMarena comment section, because of this curve edge.
iphone has flat edge, but its notch is deym ugly
