It works most of the time, but when the screen is dirty it's a bit harder for the scanner to authenticate. It isn't bad, but it isn't great either.

I think it definitely has to do with that small 4x9 sensor. (You can see the sensor under sunlight). Its a good choice they are making it taller now.

As a Samsung S10+ user, i believe they need to optimize on both software and hardware front! my S10+'s fingerprint scanner is a complete gamble and sometimes it's an absolute headache! imagine in a dark room your fingerprint is not working properly and since samsung got rid of one of the best unlocking methods (IRIS scanner) since S9, you have to type in the password!
all in all, as a long time samsung customer/fan, i do strongly believe they need to improve their fingerprint reader tech dramatically!

Just about the only upgrade on the S21, displays, cameras, plastic back and ugly styling are all downgrades.

Finally they can match One plus 6T standard.
It will take them generations to get fingerprint as good as latest chinese phones.
