AnonD-804996, 11 Dec 2020I'm not gonna complain if other app stores appear on iPhones, but realistically, it'... moreMalware, oh please, have you forgotten the sms bricks? Or maybe the millions of walk arounds to access user data? Sorry but if you build a product from the ground up other should be able to flash/install something that is not of your own only if they change memory chips otherwise you're just running custom code on "random" parts you've put together.

I don't think Apple deserves so much money for maintaining barely what's an app store server on the internet...
But, I don't think we can separate istore and Apple phone business like this either.

You may side with Apple if you're a true fanboy/girl, but remember, its a corporation which's there to make profits.

If they reduce App Store earning, they might increase phone prices... Let's let stuff remain as it is.

What makes Apple products great its its control and security. Sure there are cases that bad apps gets on the app store, but overall a secure and great place to download app.

If you open another app store up, people can write code with private API that may take control and alter other apps you download securely. That is great if the developer means well.. but its gonna hurt the consumer confidence if there's rouge developers.

toukale, 11 Dec 2020Let me say it for those in the back, selling your apps on the appstore or on ioS devices is no... moreFortunately, there are current cases covered by judicial organs that will decide if that's the case. You don't seem to be a judge, which automatically makes your opinion rather unrelevant.

If other app stores are allowed then security should be decided by phonemaker only

I'm not gonna complain if other app stores appear on iPhones, but realistically, it's Apple's own device, own OS, own App Store. It's their product ENTIRELY from top to bottom. It is THEIR decision how they manage it all. And while that may limit things, they also have far better control over malware presence and actually force app makers to obey things, especially privacy wise.

Let me say it for those in the back, selling your apps on the appstore or on ioS devices is not a right. What's with all this fight? I thought many on here says Apple's 15% market share is small, go develop and publish your apps for Android, it has over 80% of the market, why bother with Apple's small market shares.

Worth a try I guess. Cydia can't do it alone. It needs some other big players to come in & help.
