BLU managed to sell the BLU R1 HD in 2016 for $60, and that literally had better specs than this. (8MP main sensor capable of 1080p video, vs a 5MP sensor on this capable of only 720p video, 2 gigs of RAM vs 1 gig in this, a 720p display vs the abysmal 480p display on this) We're now 4.5 years in the future and the performance of flagships has quadrupled.
I'd say this should be sold at an absolute maximum of $30.

But even I, som... moreI can still see how and why some people might want this, many non-tech savvy don't really know or even care about performances, most can't tell the difference between a XGHz CPU/SoC and XGB of RAM, those who want only to make calls and from time to time use smartphone features, but only because of the need, they wouldn't care about the M3.
This is the same reason why there are people buying dumb phone over smartphones, it could be for any company where the employee need a smartphone for calling and from time to time require to take a picture as "evidence" or something else, most wouldn't bother paying more for a better phone.
I am certainly not saying I would buy this, but there are still many who will, it is easy to forget how many customers there are outside the "norm", but considering that some companies thrive only off of niches, I am not surprised.
Also, I am pretty sure, making an unsuccessful phone won't really hurt anyone in here, so why not ?

And they w... moreI think it's reasonable to have prices and specs like this. there are so many ppl in the world that to this day still haven't got a smartphone. maybe someone who even poor than you. 1GB 16GB it's good enough rather than 1GB 8 GB. (I prefer 2GB 16GB tbh from my opinion)

This phone is just too terrible to make up for the display that isn't quite broken straight outta the factory. (though it is an abysmal 720p LCD)

This is either for someone that lives on paycheck to paycheck, or for kids. It could work. Or maybe they wanted to troll people with it (the price is 69 afterall!).

Whining aholes comes up whining about processor Ram and all aspects of this phone. This phone is not a Phone for everyone. There are huge number of people who just use phone as communication device. Instead of feature phones they can buy this too.

This phone, as it is, will not run youtube properly and will struggle with social media apps as well. I know this because my 3 years old entry level LG has better specs than this (!!!) and it cant handle more than a few minutes of youtube before lagging, freezing and/or crashing. This also happens with any other app that isn't just 2D text and buttons, and even with those it'll lag sometimes. There's no way this phone will perform better with a similar CPU and less RAM.

Did they really release a phone with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of RAM in the eve of 2021? And they won't even name the processor? And it's not $20? Look, I understand the need for low and mid end phones, I'm dirt poor myself and I've only ever bought cheap phones. But I can get far, far better deals than this, from almost any brand other than HMD. What are they thinking?!

The... moreGo back 5 years, and ask who will buy a phone with holes and dents in their displays, especially when bezel are slimmer than ever and that solutions exist to still get real fulldisplay and also get privacy in the mix...
At this time they'll think you are crazy for suggesting such an idea, the only reason people accept punch holes and notches is because they were gradually accustomed to them, not because those have any real advantages, and since they are now forcefully trending and that people buy what is trending without asking questions or thinking about their own tastes...
Even the worse phone in the world, targeting no particular audience (so not even an excuse for particular niches) will still sell, that's why by the way I find particularly stupid those who say that phone with X or Y features (take a niche example like no front facing camera) won't sell.
