Lol at all the Indians in this thread zealously defending their image and blame acts of violence and looting on Wistron, China, Communists and "the West".

It is these people who exploite labour and even qualified engineers and fleece them of their salaries and due share. Apple can not wash its hand from present fiasco wherein its employees are getting exploited by these contractors.

Anonymous, 15 Dec 2020Then they would've gone after the local contractor. Instead, they trashed the factory. Local contractor said their payment is getting delayed from the company. That's why they thrashed the company and apparently Company HRs also didn't do anything for their payments even on moral basis. Shame on them. These contractors need to put in jail.

1. "company had made payments to the labour contractors"
2. "The labor department has issued notices to Wistron, stating that the company had three days to pay the employees"

I don't see why Wistron had to pay the employees directly.
Wistron -> labour contractors -> Employees. This is the business contracts.

Anonymous, 15 Dec 2020Apple should pay their workers more. Apparently apple contracted Wistron to produce
Wistron contracted labor contractors for extremely cheap labor
Contractor didn't pay to its labors even overtime was unpaid

These poor workers were asking from a long time for their rightful payment and Wistron should have interfered and asked contractors to clear the dues but they didn't because they will get nowhere180$ a month cheap labour and there was some HR - labor contractors settings.
So When these labours didn't had anything to survive they took matters in their own hand. It was enevitable. You can only exploit someone to a point until they break completely. In other words you can call it slavery.

Recently, Toyota factory in the same area witnessed similar riots, and in various parts of the country, Chinese agents (called as Urban Naxals, violent terror groups operate through unions and various communist parties having tactically understanding with the country toy's principle opposition party headed by the foreign lady who has apparently looted and parked many hundred billions in European safe heavans) As such India is a democratic set up unlike single party dictatorship in other countries where Apple can easily float rules and don't get caught with bad press. Having said that Left leaning media across the globe are in the pockets of Chinese and eager to report minor incidents in India out of proportions to create bad press for the current establishment. This partly politically and economically motivated incident, just like most of the recent years riots in India.

the tech nerd, 15 Dec 2020Should they just slave off instead????Slave off? No, they can refuse to work and protest
Not destroy private property and belongings
What will they get now? When they destroyed it all? Sooner or later, they’ll leave them to the streets or make them pay for the things they’ve done

Conlany employed 90% contract labour and apparently contractor delayed the payments of the workers which is like 180 to 200$ per month including overtime. These people hardly make any money and don't have saving to survive more than a month. It was enevitable. This is clear case of employee exploitation and government need to review such loophole in labour practices. Apple has already asked wistron for clarification over their labour dues and investigation is going on all around. This is shameful for both indian government for such weak labour law and Wistron for ignoring the pain of its 90% contract employees.

TheLastOracle, 15 Dec 2020Well said. its trade unions funded by foreign forces, that are behind the staged farm protests... moreSo there's a conspiracy behind every corner? Maybe it's just a result of faux democracy, poor governance and prevalent corruption that exists in India.
