Is the screen compatible, is it reliable, how does image quality look, will it ruin the screen. we r far away from having these go to mass markets. there is ur reason. happy now?

You are not discussing the reason why/why not we can't have both options and you still don't understand the other halfwit's point. 3 times now you've severely disappointed me. 3 strikes and you're out, I'm not replying to you anymore.

I thought you simply weren't understanding the reason why that wasn't a possibility, but nope even that was overestimating you. Whenever I talk about any alternative to the punch hole that isn't underdisplay camera, there is quite a lot of people saying the punch hole is better/the best solution, and many don't want the pop up, so your argument is literally backward.
There are even people preferring punch hole over everything else, including underdisplay camera.
Here, you are acting exactly like those who despite other solutions and only want their own, which is exactly what killed the pop up (along with myths about fragility, wear and all that), because they don't want any phone to have anything else than what THEY personally want.
Except that for you and I, it is a question of having no available phones that match our tastes, while they have the whole market to choose from already.
Do you see the problem now?
Do you understand why making things for everyone is the best solution?
What is so hard with you people to just NOT act this way, to just accept that phones different from what you want for people with different tastes also need to exist?
Because technically the "best solution" would be to either have bezels or no front camera.

joe nodden, 17 Dec 2020No it's not why having both is the best option. Why don't you understand it. It'... moreFor YOU what matter is having an uninterrupted fullscreen, but it isn't about what YOU want, and it is the same for everybody, which is why diversity is important, otherwise, lets simply either totally remove the front camera or go back to the normal good old bezel.
Some may like the pop up for the privacy aspect, other for the fun mechanical futuristic gadget vibe.
YOU don't understand, the automobile industry is capable of making a lot of car models per years, and each car model is capable of coming with many different sizes and shapes, with different engines, different options, sometime they even leave choice between FWD, RWD, and AWD.
For example, lets take a known brand, Audi, a common model, the A1, already you have the choice between the Sportback and the Citycarver, lets take the SportBack.
You already have 6 "Trim line", lets continue with the first one, the "Technik", you now have 4 different engine and transmissions to choose from, lets continue with the first "Technik 25", you can still choose the color and the roof line, on this particular model you can't choose the headlights or the wheels, but on many other cars you can, and it isn't only about cars one would order, they produce many variations, so everyone can find an existing one with what he desires.
And a car is DEFINITIVELY more expensive, complex and the assembly line definitely take more space than Smartphones one and the whole thing definitely take more resources, and yet it still doesn't cause any issues.
Smartphones could EASILY be made so the same model could easily be built with either a bezel, a notch, a punch hole, a pop up, an underdisplay camera and possibly other rarer variations, same thing with flat, 2.5, curved, waterfall display and main camera design, like, single camera, multiple camera, small regular sensor(s), huge high quality sensor(s).
It wouldn't cause any significant cost increase, in fact, as I said, it will actually help target a way wider audience, allowing much more sell, which clearly compensate for the added cost of doing it.

It's why having either one works perfectly. Having both means Xiaomi has to put together two assembly lines, increasing the price. It *does not matter* which method Xiaomi goes with. As long as it's a pop up or under display camera, it's going to be a good phone.
