Anonymous, 03 Jan 2021Hy ; my ideal phone: With battery replecement again (I don't ming plastic back) 16:9 as... moreI totally agree with you.
Hello all.
Simple:
1) aspect ratio 16/9 (primordial);
2) full HD at 60 Hz (it is enough);
3) 7.0 - 7.2 inches display (no more);
4) main camera: minimum 24 MB;
5) front camera: minimum 8 MB;
6) possibility to replace battery quickly;
7) battery capacity 5 - 6 Ah;
8) all common sensors (GPS, proximity, fingerprint, etc.);
9) 5G.
10) the possibility to grow external memory. I think 512 GB it is a comfortable average;
11) 3.5 mm socket for headphones (it is a must);
12) radio FM (it is a must);
13) no notch (it is a must);
14) no drop on screen (it is a must);
First thing I look when I buy a smartphone is a 16/9 ratio. It is very uncomfortable to use the new aspect ratio (18/9, 19/9, etc.) because, like most human being, aperture between my eyes it is normal.
All my best regards for all people.

... morealso, all you manufacturers, please STOP that ever continuing "fast charging" hype! Yes i know techniques are getting (slightly) better and fast-charging does not necessarily break batteries earlier, but what is the point? mains supply power-adapters are getting ever bigger pieces of brick, and even if batteries finally would get capacities up to 10.000 mAh (at about 3,7V) there still is no sensible necessity of charging 'em at > 35W ..... cases are RARE where one really wants to charge a battery in 1 hour, and yet here again, REMOVABLE batteries do make much more sense as if you run out of battery, just swap in your spare one. Why not consider some kind of hibernation-system instead, that lets the phone go to sleep while swapping battery.
What i also consider a useless hype is that of HIGH display refresh rates! What are they for if > 60Hz? who really needs 'em? They make no point in everyday use...
Replacable / (user) - removable battery
3,5mm (good quality) headphone jack & FM radio
Infrared port (IR blaster)
MHL / dLNA software standards
good sensors including barometer
more sensible display resolutions! e.g. 144xx2560! (why do all phones suddelny have to be 1080*2400 or so -- why is the broadness of the display resolution being reduces?)
stop the premium hype!! a plastic back is perfectly ok!! it makes antenna technology easier, and we don't look at the packsides of our phones! there is no need for premium-effect-competition! phones must endure, when being dropped etc.
e.g. the LG G4 now being 5 y old, had all of the state of the art standards at that time.
user-removable battery is for me definately one of the most important features, because sometimes batteries go bad after a year -- and i do definately NOT want to replace my phone every 2 years or so.
please for heaven's sake all you manufacturers --- bring back the replacable battery! and all state of the art features + sensors. And don't make all fons look premium!
no need! plastic back is perfectly ok!
...in adition, if you have a phone with removable battery you have a battery charge out there in 1 minute: the time it takes to switch off, change battery and switch on (having a secong battery of course) P-)
Do people really watch the back of their mobile phones!!?? For me a mobile phone, talking about aspect, is its screen.
For mi point of view, the "premium aspect obsession" spoiled everything

In my opinion, almost all manufacturers want their products to look like a specific manufacturer wich makes a big effort so you change your phone every two years. Mi actual mobile phone has 84 months and still working reasonably well...The only "problem" I had is battery died after five years, and I just bought a new one and put it in. With actual phones you have to disassemble the whole thing to change the battery: its crasy
Bring back metal phones !!! or atleast variants of phones in aluminum.
Not gonna lie, compared to a few years ago, all the phones look almost the same.
A smartphone with a Linux operating system. I don't want to be a hostage any longer.
Autofocus ultrawide modules, both rear and front.
hell, front camera usually has fixed focus only
Compact phones like 6 inch phones..
What I would like to see next year is a lot of optimisation and experience improvement on mobile. We need more reliable software, on a pixel you take too many photos at once and the phone freezes as it hasn't finished rendering the previous ones. Some smartphones overheat and crash when recording video, others fail to open an app. That's the core experience that needs improvement as does content. We need good content that maximises the use of shiny new smartphones. Like 4K HDR streaming services, integration with VR, more graphically intensive smartphone games etc.
In terms of hardware: cameras with much better dynamic range, editable camera focus points after picture taken, better bokeh/ portrait photography, better AI integration, more MP, 6/ 8K HDR video, more foldable and rollable smartphones and innovation across the board.

Anonymous, 21 Dec 2020Plastic isn't good for a flagship. It will look a cheap phone.I would buy a plastic phone over a glass-sandwich/aluminum phone.

I own the Pixel 3 now and have nothing to object against the pictures it takes. The Xperia looked like it needed editing, at least w.r.t. exposure. However, I also have the Poco X3, and, with GCam, the photos are almost indistinguishable from my Pixel. But betting on an unofficial port for the Xperia is kind of a big gamble.
The best price I've seen for Xperia was 650E in Europe, which is close to 700USD. It's a decent value, but not a great one. Hence why I'm looking forward to 'value phones' in 2021 that can deliver the same for half the price. I think the phone prices have gone crazy in the past 2 years.
